Change of Dentist

Featured Replies

Are Thai Dentist required to transfer patient records when one changes Dentists or is it purely voluntary ?. I was not happy with my current Dentists assessment and advice regarding a root canal and was not given options ie implant / screwless implant etc so I have found a more affable Dentist .

What happens to ones Dental and personal records / data if not transferred and the patient ceases to use that particular Dentist ( ie by moving away, finding a new Dentist or even death ?)

Not done automatically. Just go in and ask politely and bring the records to the new dentist.

As above, there is no automatic transfer. The burden is on the patient to request the records and, usuallym, physically bring tyhem to the new dentists.

Same is true for medical records.

By law you have an absolute right to your medical and dental records but up to you to request them and usually up to you to bring them to the new provider. A small fee may or may nto be charged, you will have to go in person to get the records, and will need to show proof of ID (passport).
