Arthritis gel

Featured Replies

Hi all, has anyone enquired into or had done in Thailand gel injections for arthritic knees. Gov or private hospitals and clinics. Any help including costs appreciated.

Thank you

I had Hyruan One (Hyaluronic acid) at Queen Sirikit Hospital Sattahip for a meniscus tear, i actually think it's more suited to arthritis. It's an expensive biological lubricant, 18k bant, apparently 20k-25k at a private hospital, i think it's good for 6 months

It is costly and effects are temporary. Should get consultation with specialist first to assess if it is likely to help in your specific case.

Besides the hospitals there are clinics offering this for a bit less but quality can be a concern

I did HA and PRP injections done (6 months apart) in Canada for an arthritic hip. Because the joint had degraded to the point there was no lining left and it was bone to bone neither helped. Those treatments only help if there's cartilage (?) left so were no good to me. The hip replacement did wonders though. Steroid injections did help a bit while the other two were useless.

There's a newer much more expensive treatment called arthrosamid that supposedly lasts years. Wouldn't have worked for me because for the reasons above so I'm glad I didn't go for it. Not sure if it's available in Thailand. Canada only approved it last year.

I suppose you did an x-ray before ???

If so, and the Doc decided it will ease you pain, it will last for 6-9 months, even shorter.
