For us guitar players the memories of our childhood

Featured Replies

This guitar instrumentals brings back the fond memories of my mother playing them 45's. I'm most thankfull to my mother for buying my first guitar when I was 12 years old. A guitar that was way to handle, but the memories plucking them strings "most likely out of tune", well, that musically journey was pushed aside in my life. Thank you mom and dad.

I'm a guitar guy, as a teenager, I had a Gibson, Les Paul copy.

I played the best smoke on the water. 🎸

BTW, next time you are in Bangkok, visit Boutique Poo-Yai Lee @BP Place

I'll be back in July. Would love to shoot the breeze with you over a Thai ice tea ( no ice please )555

Still got 4 guitars. Good tele copy , 2 electric acoustics and a Spanish. Used to play in a garage band but now at 68 lost interest and moved on to other things. Used to have an excellent Tokai tele deluxe , very desirable now apparently.

Seldom touch any of them now unless I hear an interesting riff or chord sequence which I quickly try to master. Once I have cracked it for curiousities sake I lose interest again. Too many other things in my life to get back into it.

Guitar guy huh? How many guitars do you currently own?

I have just two basses.

had 14 at one point .. sold 2 strats 3 les pauls a taylor a favilla 12string and a Fender jazz bass before I left the US and came here and

left a 69 Strat and a solid body Gretch Corvette with my son in the US

last few years bought a Yamaha acoustic just to nock around, a Fender Player strat wich I stripped down and got rid of that nasty poly finish and refinished it.. changed the pots and put a rosewood made in Japan Fender neck on it... still in under $1000 US

then a Squire Tele CV50 ,, changed out the pots , switch and output jack on it, and still under $600 us

an Epiphone "Lazarus" Les Paul .. ( thru Japan ) also ripped out the pots and replaced them .. also took the time to enamel the fret edges and create my own binding .. I defy anyone to detect it unless you have it 6" from your face ... in for just about $1000 US

and recently bought a Squire CV Strat with the "Large" headstock .. same thing switched out the pots and switch and still under $600 US

now they all play as they should ... all the wiring has beem done with solderless harnesses !

at this point.. anyone with the slightest amt of time and effort can update a Squire to way better then any current modern "Fender"

and be at 25-30% of the cost ...

and.. I still have time to embarrass myself at the golf range a few times a week
