If the opposition take the House of Representatives and the Senate, then perhaps. If they only take the House of Representatives (and assuming that their majority is not overthrown by a series of court decisions in "tame judiciaries) then probably not. The latter possibility, perhaps the most probable, will be spun out to take the US through to the next General Election by which time Trump will have been cemented in place - older, even more dysfunctional but the frontman for the oligarchs who really are the regime.

I have to say, I think America as s democracy, or even as a "Representative Republic" as some apologists are so keen to call it, is finished.

MAGAs have a button that they push for answers to anything that holds the criminal Trump accountable, but never address the actual issues. They sling the term "lawfare", patently oblivious to Trump's obvious criminality.

He committed bank fraud, and was found guilty. He committed insurance fraud and was found guilty. He stole classified documents, and then he lied about returning them, putting national security and the true identities of foreign clandestine assets at risk. Only a hack judge delayed the trial and saved him. He tried to overthrow 240 years of US democracy, because he's a whining crybaby loser. He tried to pressure the SecState of Georgia to commit voter fraud.

None of those constitutes "lawfare", they constitute criminal activity that should have been prosecuted.

MAGAs are too captured to see truth and reality. They live in a fantasy world where their messiah is as infallible as a Medieval Pontiff.

This deal will not hold up. Trump will be dead and buried by the time his crime family is investigated, but his sons will be indicted, prosecuted and most likely convicted and jailed. MAGAs can do their crying then. Justice will be served.
