Trump aide’s profanity attack on Pompeo sparks White House fury

A bitter public feud inside Donald Trump’s political orbit exploded into view after White House communications director Steven Cheung launched an expletive-filled attack on former secretary of state Mike Pompeo over the administration’s emerging Iran strategy.

The extraordinary outburst triggered immediate backlash, with critics accusing the White House of abandoning even basic standards of professionalism as tensions over Iran continue to divide Republicans.

Iran Rift Tears Open MAGA Fault Lines

The row began after Pompeo criticised reports of a possible US-Iran agreement, warning the proposal resembled the Obama-era diplomacy fiercely opposed by Trump allies for years.

The former CIA chief said the deal would effectively reward Tehran while failing to stop its weapons ambitions. He urged the administration to take a harder line in the Strait of Hormuz crisis instead of pursuing negotiations.

Cheung responded with a blistering personal attack.

“Mike Pompeo has no idea what the f--- he’s talking about,” the White House official wrote. “He should shut his stupid mouth and leave the real work to the professionals.”

The language stunned even seasoned Washington observers.

Backlash Builds Over White House Conduct

Critics from across the political spectrum quickly condemned the remarks, arguing the exchange reflected a broader collapse in political norms inside Trump’s second administration.

Immigration attorney Aaron Reichlin-Melnick said he could not “get used to this kind of obscenity” coming from a senior White House official. Journalist Brett Meiselas accused the administration of behaving without “decency”.

Others focused on the irony of Trump’s own former top diplomat being publicly humiliated by a current aide.

National Review editor Ramesh Ponnuru mocked the spectacle, noting Trump himself selected Pompeo to lead American diplomacy for nearly three years.

Iran Pressure Pushes Tempers Higher

The clash comes as pressure mounts on the White House over the deepening confrontation with Iran and instability around global oil shipping routes.

Trump’s allies remain split between hardliners demanding escalation and officials pursuing negotiations aimed at stabilising the Gulf crisis.

Cheung’s intervention laid bare how volatile those divisions have become — and how quickly internal disagreements are now spilling into public view.

In 1986, Pompeo graduated first in his class from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he majored in engineering management.

Witkoff is a Jewish person. Irrelevant.

Witkoff is competent as a real estate businessman.

That's it.

He's totally incompetent do be doing any diplomatic work, especially the very high level stuff Trump sends him to.

Correct. He has a friend in high places and the other guy is simply "family". Cronyism and nepotism, just like in Roman times.

Ah, so Steven Cheung played Oddjob in all those James Bond films...

Maybe! Screen time is an important qualification for this administration.

Trump and his very small minded band of nimwitz are incredibly intolerant of criticism on any level.

It seems as if he's got out of his way to hire empty suits who have low self-esteem, and have no idea about the fact that they are in a high-profile position, and a position that is going to attract a lot of criticism. People who possess dignity and grace simply deal with that and it's like water off a duck's back.

I call it hypocritical BS.
