Why does Immigration need a hard copy if it’s on their screen?

As I pointed out earlier the airline staff and immigration look at the hard copy and check it against ID page passport.

They could do checking the digitized version held on smartphone, as airlines do with boarding passes.

Don't understand your point. They want a hard copy then provide it. BTW: did io allow you to enter visa exempt. You generally don't get to pick and choose when to use your Non O. The io should have st

It would be advised and recommended to bring hard copies of the evisa and the approval docs, you never know what you’re going run into with immigration. Don’t assume anything and bring everything.

In collaboration, no doubt, with their pals in His Majesty's Passport Office back in the UK, given the inordinate amount of paperwork we Brits locally are required to produce when renewing our passports - including, would you believe, copies of all unused pages in our existing passports, which must, to boot, be in colour!crazy

Easy answer: it's law. If the law will change then no hard copies necessary.

That's what the immigration in CM told me.

So up to a review they have to store all these papers in many storage places, though everything is on the screen.

Don't forget how many people are employed for this?😂

What section of what law?

I've made several entries with e-visas and the immigration officials never kept the printout I handed them with my passport.

...When I reached the counter, the immigration officer looked at her monitor, saw my Non-O visa details on her screen, and asked me to provide a hard copy of the visa...

I didn't know that immigration officials at entry points can see my e-visa on the computer monitor without scanning the QR code on the printout, but then I never look at their screen or watch what they are doing with my passport and the visa paper before they give them both back to me.

I always assumed they can see if it they look for it. But many will not go through the trouble of looking for a visa if one is not presented to them.

Perfect summary.

Even folk with reentry permit are sometimes mistaking to be stamped in visa exempt entry..

There have been reports of folk with eVisa given option of visa exempt entry or visa entry.

That should not occur however it happens.

One likely reason it is the law is because those paper copies have the actual in-ink signature if it ever comes to that.

Well, I repeat only the information from the immigration boss.

Do you honestly believe you can read any signature after 10-20 years storage?🤣

well, if you want to have more precise information, please ask the boss of the immigration in CM. For me his explanation was sufficient.

Can't wait what he is telling YOU when you asked him your questions.

Please let us be informed.

And I will repeat that the benefit in requiring a signature NOW is that it might assist a case or decision. If as your contact said, when they change the rules to no signature, then it will be no on-paper signature required
