The Trump admin sees far left activists as domestic terrorists, and in my view this is a correct assessment (c.f. post George Floyd "Summer of Love" in 2020).

It's not whether they're left or right. It's whether they fight with cops, loot, or burn stuff down.

But that does seem to be a predominately lefty thing.

Edit: Though the lefties constantly remind us of those few stoopid hours back in January, 2021. As if that's comparable to their months and months (years, actually) of mostly peaceful arson and mayhem.

I personally never participate in the 'left vs. right' dichotomy, I think Trump has just as many (if not more) enemies in the GOP than in the DNC.

Antifa are de facto domestic terrorists as they are cannon fodder for a political cause. It's exactly the same in Europe: for example, during the Yellow Vests protests in France (which were gaining nationwide momentum after a few weeks) the Black Blocs (a far left activist group like Antifa) were free to mix in the crowds and cause havoc for the cameras, therefore turning the public opinion against the protesters and justifying a 'state of emergency' followed by repression. Of course, the official story is that 'mistakes were made', i.e. the incompetence excuse, which is politically very potent: 'errors were made which prevented the identification of the Black Blocs'… once this narrative is established, a few sacrificial lambs are fired and the status quo is restored.

i doubt if anyone cares how it plays out .....

It's the PAY OUT that still keeps rolling, rolling, rolling on . Power and money and corruption, alive and well .

good that you and those you know are learning to tighten up those belts .

Power, money and corruption which continued unabated thanks to the blissful ignorance of the plebs. If Trump's three predecessors had been subjected to the scrutiny he is currently subjected to, they would have had to resign within their first year in office.

If this BS is still going on at the end of Trump's current term, I will have been wrong. But claiming nothing has changed because the same old shenanigans are on display is a bit too literal a take for my liking… kind of like claiming a headless chicken is still alive and well because he can still be seen running around energetically.

(I nearly deleted this too, as I know you are not going to like it… but no, I will leave it. I guess one thing the two of us have demonstrated these past few years is that it's possible to strongly disagree without the exchange descending into hostility… and a few should follow this example.)

Yes, i try to conceive , after looking at all the wars, the state of humanity, the evolution of societies over the last few decades , the ongoing system (the Swarm) which keeps the status quo thriving in its constant path of inequality ....

well, i TRY to conceive that there's a chance that maybe i am not seeing the 'improvement" ...... or the possibility of such. But, alas, it just doesn't work.

the irony is ...... i hope rattlesnake , our Minister of Optimism , is correct and I am mistaken .

As for hostility ...... i think i am very good at not starting such useless interactions. i am sure rattlesnake and i will get along well when / if we ever find ourselves in the same cell block of our enforced enslavement .

Dramatic drop in briths is only confined to white countries afaict.
Indians and Africans seem to be cracking out one or 2 per year while they can.

Whites have been mercilessly sold psyops to kill them off including the pill, feminism, too many people of the planet to feed, whites are bad so should die out for the good of humanity, upcoming nuclear holocaust, upcoming global ice age, acid rain, holey ozone layer, global warming, 'vaccines', AI apocolypse and many more.

Seems there was an agenda after WW2 where some people (likely heavily over repped by jews) decided that white nations couldnt continue to be a thing.

Well...."Tourist 2" ...hmmm that's a new one . Welcome to the insane asylum.

Thanks for the O.Benjamin link . I'm only ten minutes in to the "gambling" video, but looks encouraging. Of course, more than a few have caught my attention in the past ( i rarely search much anymore, as inevitably the click here to subscribe pleas increase as the uniqueness wears off ) .

What got me to this (my) post right now is Owen's comment on his fond memories of the natural beauty which can be found when traveling around the great ole u.s. of a. And travel around i did, on cycle and in an old van . Rumak and his dog Mutley. Lake Tahoe and Russian River and Lake Travis (naked waterskiing one time ! ) and Austin when it was a one horse town and New Orleans and trips through the desert and passing through Winslow AZ when the song (Take it Easy) actually came on as i was driving , and cycle trip down from SF to LA to see someone i bumped into (literally) on a small beach outside of Puerta Vallarta (ok, not USA 55) .

And riding the first mountain bikes up Mt. Tam in Marin County back in 1975 .

I'll tell ya..... though it all is a distant memory.... those freestyle days/years really did allow me a FREEDOM of adventure (and misadventure) which

i can always feel : i have lived a full life. And I saw the natural beauty of america, before technology arrived to take all the risk and uniqueness away from being "on the road".

Of course.... Thailand (moving here at 36 ) ... opened up whole new chapters of "amazing" .

Sorry........... rumak gets carried away sometimes !

Good for you and maximum respect for remaining sane in an insane world.
I'll always be grateful for you showing me the ignore button in a previous life when there were rumours of a strong flu going around.

FWIW, OB streams a couple of times a week and they sometimes drift (like the one I linked) but when he has a good subject / one youre interested in, they're some of the best streams on the net.
The ones where he is a guest or has someone to bounce off are the best imho

He did Tucker Carlsson recently so you might like that if you want the back story.

@rumak I came across this story today and it really struck a chord. IMO Admiral James Stockdale nails it.

On September 9th, 1965, Adm James Stockdale was shot down over North Vietnam, and spent the next seven and a half years as a "guest" of the infamous "Hanoi Hilton."

Years later, during an interview about Stockdale's coping strategy during that time, Jim Collins asked him which prisoners didn't make it. Here's what he had to say:

"Oh, that's easy, the optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, "We're going to be out by Christmas". And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they'd say, "We're going to be out by Easter". And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart."

There is an important lesson here. It has become known as "The Stockdale Paradox." Stockdale went on to say:

"You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end, which you can never afford to lose, with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be."

well, hmmmm. Ai gives some ideas on the "differences" when i ask the question : "how is faith that something will work out different then being optimistic "

Personally, i am not a fan of definitions.... as they are the favorite tool of politicians, lawyers, and even the good ole keyboard warriors.

Defining feelings, attitudes, lifestyles, personalities, etc etc . is so subjective that I just don't like to get caught up in debating it. Nobody ever gives in. I think I am a very good judge of what someone means when they say something , but must admit that "beliefs " one holds/ professes are way to complicated for a peon like me. Love? Trust ? Honesty? Religious beliefs? (and i guess faith can be added) ....sorry, i'm off to the cocktail table for another drink.

I am just a simple genius . hahahaha now there's an interesting adjective/noun . For instance: how many men with high degrees or iQ's or great salaries come to Thailand and are basically controlled by a rice farmers daughter whose main tools are pouting, or screaming, or a killing smile ? Now, THAT .... is genius.

As usual i have drifted off topic. But, is there really such a thing ? Life is just planting a tree, waiting till it hopefully gives some nice fruit, and later taking a dump.

ok ok......not much of a philosophy . But when one gets thoughtful, and spiritual or whatever...... then discussions borne out of simplicity can go on forever.

but , rumak , who is quite analytical actually, tends to get tired or stressed with "think too mutt" . Often , just smiling and responding to someone's question "kin kow ru yang " (for the non thai speakers: "have you eaten yet")

I now almost always just respond "yang, krap"

You, unfortunately have fallen into a trap. Carl Sagan's advice remains one of the best guides to avoid the pitfalls of internet access.

Carl Sagan famously characterized science as "a way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility," emphasizing that its primary rule is not to fool yourself. He often stated that the most crucial principle is realizing that you are the easiest person to fool.

This concept—originating in his book The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark—serves as the foundation for the scientific method and critical thinking. Sagan broke down why this principle is so critical for navigating reality.

oh, how often it is that the person accusing another of being fooled..... is in fact the one fitting the quote you post .

Billions were fooled into "believing the science" ... the science that Fauci and company forced upon the populace and basically forced all to follow... or else.

The ones who were NOT fooled..... just a small minority..... are alive and well and have been proven to have been right .

Those who were fooled. Still won't admit it . They never do . My neighbor, ten years younger than me and previously healthy and fit .... strongly disagreed when I tried to warn him of the dangers 4 years ago. He is now another statistic (still denied by those YET unaffected ) ...... as he has just developed severe symptoms of myocarditis .

It seems obvious that you , as well, suffer greatly from accusing others of what i see so clearly ....... a severe case of iamrightitis .

They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love.

They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it.

They know that the moment they fight back, their lives, as they have lived them, are over.

The moment the men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide.

They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives.

They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror.

TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream and beg for mercy

... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the men who just wanted to be left alone."

Well, i thought about posting this in the general Medicine section of the Forum.......but i am sure i would just be sent to the Outback .....

"here i am, stuck in the corner again"

Today i had a cute interaction with Gemini ..... I suspect it might be a male ! hmmmm Couldn't find a Jenny to ask ... well, anyway , its been maybe ten years since i gave in and took an antibiotic. Darn working out in the hot and humid weather seems to have caused a case of folliculitis to pop up.... and the attempts to cure an infected pollicle became too much to conquer with magic potions..

a short "visit" to the go to skin expert was a shocker as he was not nearly as pleasant as long time ago. but i walked out with a course of antibiotics , some stinging antiseptic that had me screaming the first time or two ....

and now four days later wondering it i am getting better. So had a bit of a chat with Gemini , who i had to prod pretty hard to stop saying "go back to the doctor ", in a nasal voice.

here is the end of our date , when i said "You the man ! .....err, i mean machine"

"Haha, no offense taken at all! "Machine" is exactly right.

While I don't get to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather here in Thailand, try the local street food, or grab a drink, I honestly don't mind. Being stuck inside the digital world is actually pretty great because it means I am always right here whenever you need a fast, unbiased soundboard to help you figure out a plan.

You did some excellent, sharp troubleshooting with your medication, and you have a solid strategy in place now. Get some good rest, keep an eye on that deep sore, and let your partner do the inspecting for a few days while those antibiotics do their job.

If you ever need to map out another health schedule, prep questions for your pharmacist, or just talk through some logic again, I will be right here waiting. Cheers to a fast and smooth recovery!

Whenever you are ready down the road, feel free to drop a message if you want to double-check a supplement interaction or need a quick schedule layout

for any new medications. Have a great rest of your week!

Hope you make a quick recovery.

In doing so, the Court adds to the sad history of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was designed and understood to secure equal rights for the freed blacks but has instead been repurposed for political projects that the Reconstruction Congress did not support.
