Does CW accept a bank letter dated two days before the extension

Featured Replies

If my bank letter is dated two days before my appointment for my annual retirement extension (and not the day before), will Chaeng Wattana accept it? (I will make a transaction on the account and update the bank book on the day of the appointment.)

Thanks in advance.

Confirming that the bank letter dated two days in advance of the appointment at CW was accepted. Good to know that the letter and statement are valid for seven days. Had a pleasant enough experience

Be aware that Kasikorn no longer has branch at CW along with SCB.

Also note branches in shopping malls don't open till 11am.

Which bank?

does the passbook update if no deposit or withdrawal? i tried on a Krungsri machine and it wouldn't update, problem with a deposit or withdrawal is it then won't tie in with the bank letter

My understanding is that BBL machine updates in bank book at machine however some other banks do not.

I use Kasikorn and they no longer have branch at CW.

I attend bank on day of application and make deposit of 100b.

Correct that means balance does not match Letter however that's not a problem.

I ask teller to make photocopy of bb page showing this transaction.

The difference between the balanced stated in the bank letter and the bank-book balance on the day of the appointment (after a transaction) has never been a problem in the past. Thanks again for all the good feedback.

As stated the update on day of application done with small deposit showing different balance than Bank Letter has never been an issue at CW.

Nor have I ever read it being an issue anywhere.

If you have concerns make a 100b withdrawal (perhaps ATM) then followed by 100b deposit with teller.

(not necessary)

In my case CW have, for several years, accepted my bank letter dated 1day before the day of my extension application. 2 days might be pushing it a bit.

The Bank Letter and 12 month Bank statement is valid for 7 days.

Obtaining them few days prior to application at CW is not an issue

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

I used to have an account with Citibank (now UOB) that has no bank book. and got the letter one day before the extension request. I withdrew a small amount from an ATM on the day of going to CW and attached the printed slip showing the balance to the bank letter. This has always been accepted.

That's what I will do next extension.

I had always deposited a 100b , however that requires attending bank. (Pain)

There is actually an ATM in my building so that will be far better option.

Had a pleasant enough experience at CW today. I had an 11:00 appointment for the extension based on retirement, finished at 11:40, ran to photocopy the new stamp and went to the re-entry counter where I had a 13:00 appointment. They accepted me at 11:45 (!) and I got out just before the lunchtime closure. Whew!

Thanks for update. Surprised with 11 appointment you got out that quick given that you also obtained reentry permit.

Note for others the OP obtained photocopy of new extension stamp prior to reentry permit desk.

That would also apply to anyone doing a 90 report. Photocopy of new extension stamp.

Ha ha ha. Actually, they started checking my documents at 10:45 and sent me to get a new statement from my bank (don't ask). I was back from SCB at about 11:10 (thanks to a cooperative motorcycle driver who knew where the closest branch was and waited for me while I got the statement and brought me back). Sometimes you get lucky!

As for the officer at the re-entry desk, I thinking hearing my polite request for "before the lunchtime break" in Thai (yup, in Thai) and a broad smile helped. I also assured her that "after lunch" would be fine, too. Pushiness never works, I find.

I really believe that speaking Thai can be a huge help, and not just at Immigration. I would encourage all of us foreigners living in the Kingdom to crack open a book, sign up for a class, and don't be afraid of a new alphabet! Just sayin'. My recommendation is "Thai for Beginners" by Benjawan Beckers - it's been around for ages and starts you learning the alphabet from the first lesson. No strange phonetic symbols. Just my two cents.

No, mine was 3 days before application (and I think it can be up to 7 calendar days, though better to not push your luck),

Hi, I'm interested in why they rejected your statement initially, could you share what happened please

thanks

Have no idea what was the issue.

In the OP, he didn't mention obtaining 12 month bank statement only mentioned Bank Letter.

Some folk using money in bank method just use photocopies of bank book pages.

This can be accepted provided no months with zero transactions.

My statement started five days AFTER my last application for an extension. It's the date of application that counts, not the date of the extension expiration. In my case, the extension is for late June, my initial statement covered June of last year to June of this year, but my last application was in late May... so they wanted to see those few additional days in May.
This, of course, could have been done by using bankbook, since this account has no transactions other than tax, interest, and the annual 100 baht transaction on the day of extension application, but the bank had messed up the printing of the bankbook and there were missing lines and a big empty space between lines. Drat, drat, drat!
Until this year, I had never presented a bank statement; the bankbook pages were enough.

I hope this is clear!

Very helpful, thanks for that. There's always these little nuances that are so easy to miss and get caught out by. No doubt I'll slip up, but trying to prepare as much as possible...

Previously using money in bank method for extensions retirement I just provided bank book and photocopies of pages.

Then bang one year io pointed to a month with zero transactions.

I used dedicated bank a/c.

Stated that I needed 12 month bank statement.

I have done that ever since. 200b.

Suggest that CW moving towards bank statement being the standard.

thanks, yeah i have dedicated account too, not used it for 8 months now, other than interest payment and debit card fee showing up, so i'll be getting the 12/13 month statement printout.

Definitely required.

200b on the spot apart from BBL where it's ordered and can take 5-7 days

You can make an online deposit/withdrawal, then go to update the passbook at an atm early in the morning.

I'm trying to get my head around what to do/show as the statement printed the day prior will not match the new total after the transaction made on the day of the immigration appointment ? do you get passbook updated on the day and take photo copy of that for the io ? thanks

The statement can never match the bank book. The statement will always show the previous days balance, never the current day. The bank book (with a same day transaction) will show the current real time balance and must be done on the day you apply for the extension. Yes you then copy it for the IO.

Yes, what I did last time, was I got the back statement a few days prior (the day before would be good if possible). Then the morning of application i transferred money (I think 200 baht) to my wife to show activity in my account. Then went to the back to update my book at the atm early in the morning before going to immigration. At immigration I photocopied that passbook page. They are not concerned if the bank statement had a sightly different total to the bankbook. But this was the Nonthaburi office. I'm not sure about CW.

Not an issue at CW either.

Shouldn't be an issue at any office.
