Fencing wire fixes it.

I never smoked so could use a gum wraper.

Some years back I was asked to look at a home with "electrical issues".

Every fuse in the fuse box had something akin to fencing wire!

Also every plug fuse (UK wiring) was wrapped in foil even if the fuse was good, apparently "to stop them blowing".

The only actual fuse protecting the whole place was the incoming 80A fuse belonging to the supply authority.

I declined to do any work on that one!

My dad was a retired RAAF group captain and aeronautical engineer (for those Pommies the RAAF is one A better than the RAF) :)

In his latter years he sat mainly in his big chair, watched TV and drank flagons of sherry.

One time I visited him and we were both quite relaxed with the sherry, drambui etc, smoke started coming up thru the kitchen floor and I stumbled out to turn off the incoming power.

He complained cause the TV was off.

I discovered fencing wire fuses and all sorts of bodgie wiring under the house that seemed to bypassed the meter.

After service in a couple of wars, working with his English mates at Maralinga on the atomic bomb and the'blue streak' rocket, a bit of dubious wiring didn't phase him.

Fuses are important , even in super cars.
