Hello there, I was looking at this area in bangkok chiang kong? where they sell heaps of second hand engines.

I asked them about the price of exact same engine of my current L15A 1500cc honda and they quoted 15,000THB. They say its imported fom japan.

they didnt exactly reply about the warranty, but they say they will start the engine if im interested.

they do not do the install.

Im really new to this and is the price quoted seems alright?

also how much would the average installation cost? Im assuming if its the same engine, they just need to unplug the wires and stuff the biggies in and plugin again?

i read somewhere the toyota V8 5000cc engine can be purchsed around 50K THB.

my car is 1500cc, so it wouldnt be possible to put this biggie in? If possible, all the parts like pumps and stuff needs to be matched to the 5000cc engine?

I think 15,000 is fair price for a strong running, low hour L15A

They will likely not warranty without doing the install.

Just the labor would be 4-8K at an independent, plus all the parts, add another 5K

Fined a shop you like, have them source the engine, do the install and provide a warranty,

Trying to put the V8 in your econo-box would require a whole new drive train, and you would never be able to legally license the car again.

No offence, but you seem to know very little about cars and engine. You should start with doing oil changes and brakes, and save the engine swaps for when you have more experience.

What kind of car do you have, is it legal, what is it worth, and what's wrong with it now?

my ride in old honda city manual transmission and currently there seems to be no problem.

but i want my ride to sound and perform like those american V8 , park in a seven eleven and get the looks from those factory worker gurls like they want me BAD.

i dont want spend much though as well, maybe 100K baht max. and this willl be a daily driver as well.

i dont mind the appearence looking dingy and dirty, but the roaring sound and acceleration is im looking for. (to get the dirty looks from the factory gurls)

I needed an engine replaced in a 2007 Honda City. The quote was 35k for a ('guaranteed genuine, less than 40km used engine imported from Japan) with 8k baht to install. 43k baht was' in market price' at the time. Long story short, much resistance by the mechanic to supply paperwork for DLT to register engine change (Serial number). Once I had paperwork, it turned out it was not an imported engine, it was from a wreckers in Bangkok (11k baht on receipt), but still 43k baht. No recourse, so "Buyer beware".

There's some old civic hatchbacks for sale occasionally. That would be my choice for a bucket car.

You are talking a load of rubbish.

$0 if you get the engine for free and do all the work yourself.

Nothing you can do with your current vehicle to give it that sound of the V8's of the mid to late 50's. Dream on!
