I thought save the frogs ( quite right) is in fact an Aussie.

Perhaps having a lot of land initially, most Aussies built outwards rather than upwards, hence houses only had a ground floor, leading to frequent interchange of the terms.

Off topic a bit...but,

My Dad ( Aussie) used to refer to the "ground" as the "deck" and to knock a person out so they fell to the ground was to "deck" them as they 'hit the deck'

Probably came from his 5 years in the Navy in WW2.

It’s strange that the police don’t see anything illegal in what happened. Tourist areas have long started to look like war zones — Pattaya, Patong in Phuket — places that are better to avoid at night.

I assume it wasn't like this in the past? It seems to happen every day, but we have social media. Foreigners are more brazen?

Well Pattaya is certainly getting a bad reputation as the place not to visit

Plus whats this the police won't or don't want to get involved unless someone presses charges

With a woman getting run over and landing up in hospital

Some action is needed

The police not following up is pathetic sends out the wrong message do wrong and it's okay police won't get involved

Is Thailand developing further and further in the direction of the trash can of the world?

When you see all the scum that romps around here, you could assume that.

Typical Thai driver - no anticipation. Probably trying to "back in" parking with there flashers on.

I go to a couple of places (eg. Homepro) where it's angled parking and 99% pull in front first.

Just can't handle the complexity of trying to reverse in, let alone pull out and have to turn right from pointing in the wrong direction!!!😂

Fights and brawls almost a weekly event in Pattaya. Question, are there regular police patrols around Pattaya?

I had the same fracture a long time ago- and I still suffer pain today

I hope as a young person she will recover quickly with no long term issues

Were they all rushing to catch the early Hua Hin ferry?

No. There is no ferry to Hua Hin. Hasn't been for years and when it did run, it was early afternoon.

Was the car driver breathalysed, if drunk no insurance and have to pay big hospital bill

I missed that bit traumatised by the horrific video, perhaps I'll claim some compensation too.

Someone has to PAY the plod to initiate any legal actions first.

Nonsense, someone has to make a complaint first, the police did not witness what went on.

The only illegal activity was the public brawl, the other part of it involving the driver's girlfriend was an accident. For the police to take any action a report has to be made to them, which did not happen in this case.

since it happened at 5 AM after a night of drinking, the girl should try to look into driving while impaired and bodily injury caused by DUI charges ...

get a good lawyer if she can afford one.

actually, impossible to check now. too late.

but the police should have checked if the driver was intoxicated at the scene.

If a law or laws have been potentially committed, it is mandatory a police investigation be done to determine any law violated

That is incorrect, in Thailand, for the type of offence that is being discussed here, a police report from the injured party would be required before a police investigation can be launched if the police did not witness the event. This does not apply for more serious offences (eg. murder) that are classed as crimes against the State.

4 hours ago, newnative said:

With this warped logic, you could assume that murders would also receive no charge since the murdered victim would not 'request legal action

Incorrect, again. Under Thai law (not logic) state crimes such as murder do not require an injured party's complaint.

What a load of nonsense people thinking this type of behavior will stop once immigration reverts back to 30 days.Don't know what they have been drinking and smoking but no common sense there in that comment.

Obviously he was said facetiously. If you dont get it then think about it some more.

The driver of the black car was not a Thai, as the article clearly reported.

It's completely stupid not to call the police when someone has been hit by a car leading to bodily harm. What if the person later dies in the hospital?

Maybe they were all drunk.

I agree in general, but, realistically in this case, was the driver going to call the police on himself and delay getting his girlfriend to hospital?

At least they've addressed this kind of issue once and for all, as soon as the 60 day visa free entry reverts back to 30 days all these incidents will stop 🙄

Say what??? It’s the short time idiot tourists that cause all the problems and not the long time stayers or expats. Or as they are called in the farang community here as 2 weak warriors. 🤡.

Correct, not at the time that I posted my comment, but then I don't have to read an entire thread before deciding what to post.

I bet those tossers pulled her out from under by the wrong leg ...
