Yes it has been in place over successive governments but with the pension rises and a private pension or with pension credits, it is now taking that income into the tax brackets. Liebour aren't increasing the tax threshold for the lower band so millions are now paying tax they didn't pay before. There is also a move towards cancelling the pension triple lock. However Sir Stammer is still throwing money at foreign countries and increasing spending on defence. Bombs before pensioners.

There should never have been any need for the triple lock. Government revenue rises by default in line with wage growth. Back in the 80s Thatcher tied the pension to the CPI and it fell behind real inflation. The triple lock was nothing more than a political gimmick, there should have been a pension rise and then linked to wage growth.

The triple lock was implemented because the uk pension had fell so far behind actual inflation. CPI only reflected the cost of certain groceries in a basket. Even now with 14 years of the triple lock, the uk pension is still one of the lowest in the G7 / Europe. No matter, let's blame the pensioners for the three trillion debt!

I quite agree. But my point was not about heating allowance. It was about not paying the basic pensions to those resident overseas.
