I think it's perfectly reasonable to question whether regulations like this still serve any useful purpose.

I think it presumptive and entitled of tourists and Expats to whinge and complain over what Thais do in their own country. They are getting on with domestic business. It's not like it is a hard and fast rule.

In Jacko45 world, on a forum that based in Thailand, primarily based 'about' Thailand - we shouldn't be posting about anything related to Thai's or Thailand... Got it...

Of course we can post and discuss anything within reason , but these alcohol ban threads pop up with monotonous regularity, its as legitimate to comment on the futility of repetitive whingeing, as it is to whinge about things repetitively.

Remember when it was OK to sell in Pattaya city but forbidden in Bang Lamung.

Bangkok politicians had no clue.

That I quite agree - with, which is why I was critical of the "if you can't go without alcohol....." comment.

Its not so common to see the commentary regarding the political mentality behind such decisions and how institutionally naïve they seem.

Well done, thought I might persuade you that you and I have little pollical clout here! I got my beer at 6pm exactly in a restaurant last night, storm in a teacup by a load of colonial types!
