IF they ever allow online extensions, which I highly doubt, it will only be for short term tourism extensions. They will never allow you to apply for and receive a marriage or retirement extension online.

I usually get to immigration just after 8am, beat the queue. Bit hard finding a bank open before 8am.

You just want to have the last word as always don't you, working on your post count.

Bank letter is accepted for 7 days, not 2 days

Not at the Rayong office

Totally agree.

But what they will do, is make you submit all paper work, before you go into get your 12 months extension.

But you will still be going into the immigration office with a stack of paper work

So you will be doing everything twice

It would have been nice, if they had scrapped the 90 day reporting.

But that's not the case at all.

THIM, will be a right laugh.

According to @Walloper 's post of 12 Feb in the following thread, the bank letter is valid for 7 days at the Rayong office:

https://aseannow.com/topic/1386730-proof-of-funds-in-an-electronic-age/

Renewed my retirement at Rayong last month. Letter from bank can be up to 7 days previous, bank book update needs to be done on day of application.

It would be handy if you could do the deposit via a transfer online, sitting in front of the IO!

But I bet the IO would then send you away to get the deposit printed out in your passbook!

I had a similar situation last year with Bangkok Bank when doing my Non O extension. I went early in the morning and wanted to make a deposit over the counter to create an update transaction. The bank told me it would not work because the bank's overnight reconciliation of the previous day was still processing and needed to rollover to the current date.

But, had you stayed up until past midnight to make a token e-deposit into your 800k account, this would then print out with the correct date in your passbook, would it not?

I don't know.
Fortunately, my immigration office didn't require a same-day transaction, so I didn't persevere with trying to force a deposit.
Instead, the bank was able to print a dated B/Fwd total line with the current date, which matched the bank letter and statement, but later when I went back that afternoon.

Probably not.

But never say never.

Ecuador has recently moved all visa applications online including for retirement/permanent residence with no in person option.

So there's definitely an internation trend to keep an eye on.

I could envision expansion of THIM to encompass a comprehensive online platform where most documents are scanned and uploaded. Some kind of Docu-sign to cover the repetitious "sign even page".

But the retiree or spouse of Thai would as you say always need to wet sign and complete the application in person with all document originals bank and stamped verification letters, statements and bank books and originals on hand. Get your photo taken, and pay probably cash as always

Yeah, doing everything twice. There may be some convenience for the application with an online application. Perhaps a reduction in number of hard copies? Like TDAC, now I have to print it out. I already have the PDF. If it could simply be uploaded that would be better. Other documents like copy of yellow book and condo chant which are same year tot year. Probably just become more burdensome and onerous but the trend of digitalization will certainly continue as promised

Yes, but Thailand can not and will not let go of.

copy this copy that, sign this sign that.

It's ingrained in there brains.

THIM, will be a just one more task that will need to be done, before you take all copies and originals of all documents to immigration on the day.

including all you have already uploaded to THIM.

T.I.T. giggle

Just as a side note, THIM is the platform they will use to collect the 300 baht entry fee for Thailand.

just pay on line ( to one of the Thai banks ) in what ever currency you like before you arrive.

That's just my guess.

Anyway, I did the same day update one time at the same time I was getting my bank letter, but it was early in the morning and someone hadn't set the machine for the current date. It was still stuck on the day before. That seems strange, but that's what happened. I didn't pay anything attention, and when I got to Jomtien immigration, they made me go back and get an update with the right date.

Which particular bank are we talking about in this instance? BBL as in @LosLobo 's similar case?

That is good, going to guess the statement has to be done on the same day along with update. Update can be done at any bank, if statement can be done even one day early it would make it a lot easier at extension time. My last one was an all day deal.

And I've got my latest "joyful" retirement extension experience coming up tomorrow (with the bank) and Tuesday (with IMM)!

don't forget to let me know if they are ok with doing the banking a day early. Will they still require same day update on bank book. If they require same day update on bank book then you still have to get to the bank before you go to Immigration. I don't want to be sitting in Immigration all day because they require same day update. I am using the monthly method now so am hoping one day early will be good for everything

Should certainly be ok for 12 month bank statement and Bank Letter.

Update bank book on day of application is the big question

I plan to update on day of application for CW extension which is inconvenient since Kasikorn closed branch at CW (god bless em)

I'm sure glad I'm on DTV now.

And presumably you will trigger this update on the day of application through an electronic transfer between accounts, will you? Meaning that this will be recorded in both passbooks as having taken place on the application date and not the day before, correct?

It seems to me that the problems experienced by @jas007 and @LosLobo probably arose from the fact that they achieved their "on application day" updates through physical transactions performed in branch during normal banking hours on the day in question, which would therefore be caught up in banks' daily reconciliation exercises (and result in them being recorded prematurely the day before).

Always had to and deposit in the same said account

No.

For my last extension I obtained the bank letter and bank statement day prior to appointment at branch in shopping mall.

On actual day of application I went to street front branch that opened at 8.30am and made 100b deposit with teller (not ATM)

My 100b deposit showed the correct date.

Then drove to CW for my 1pm appointment.

OK, thanks. Will shortly be off to Krungsri for account confirmation letter and 12-month statement, and will put the timing question of tomorrow's update to them then. Assuming that @jas007 's problem was also with BBL, looks like the daily reconciliation issue may only be a thing with that particular bank (on top of their inability to produce 12-month statements on the spot, of course).

If waiting in an immigration line once a year is your biggest problem you have a pretty good life. 😂

Plus the trip to the Tessa bahn for Kor Ror 2, bank visit for letter, bank visit on day of visa extension for book top up and the queuing involved. Of course gathering all the paper work, photos etc, filling out forms is time consuming so it isn't just a matter of standing in line at Jomtien on the day of the visa extension. On top of that you also have the home visit and returning to have your extension verification stamp.

Can someone please clarify for me. I currently have Bk Bank Acc. It is my intention to transfer funds and open account with another bank 3 months after my last visa approval.

I will do this by transferring B400,000 to new account and then couple of days later close Bk account and transfer balance of funds to new acc.

In previous immigration topics it was stated that at time of renewal I would need two bank letters. One from Bk Bank and one from new bank. Could you please advise when I get bank letter from Bk Bank. Prior to transferring initial B400,000 ie bank letter showing B800,000+, after initial withdrawal ie bank letter showing balance of B400,000+ as I presume they would not provide letter for closed account.

Thank you for any advice on this matter.

I didn't notice this new enforcement on the Pattaya City Expats Club website which I always check for news for any enforcement changes.

But that doesn't mean it isn't there. I may have missed it.

If you're reading this and involved in that club. perhaps make sure this is updated.

I passed on your information to the person who maintains their website. Yours is the first report he has received regarding the change. Their website has now been updated.

Should bring him to his senses
