Just one person's opinion. Find these type threads a waste of time. What THIM delivers is a wait and see. Also various Thai IT efforts don't inspire. For Long time online reporting was problematic

Maybe in August that will be revealed as a feature of the THIM app.

Oh dear, I hope they're not going to abolish my 3-monthly visit to Surin Immigration HQ out on the ring road. It's about the most exciting thing that happens here. South Surin isn't the driest part of Thailand for nothing.

And we head on to Robinson afterwards for a nice lunch ...

Me, too. Although people are finally reaslising up here in the stick that Google Maps - if you put you business on it - attracts customers! I know amazing stories!. I've found (and patronised) three new restaurants in the last, what, six weeks?
The hour drive up and back to Immigration isn't the same now that the (non-HiSo) economy has cacked itself even further and the food mall (a term I use loosely) on the fourth floor of the city's shopping mall has shut.
But I can still sleep easy, knowing that the fuel costs I incur are "fine" because my IM office doesn't allow online ANYTHING. Present in person. And NO "income" 65/40k option; cured bank balance ONLY: 800/400k.
It's great.
And they've a new staff member that was probably in primary school before there was an immigration office here. And this is the second office, custom built.
The new officer tells everybody except the bulk "education" visas facilitators, that their application is not filled in correctly and must be done by [person over there] who then charges you 300 baht or, and I quote, "I won't approve your application".
She's twenty. She doesn't approve F A. But "Big Smiles, Big Smiles"

My last report, I had never seen so many people milling about. Maybe two dozen. Usually I'm the only farang and maybe a few Cambodians getting WPs or whatever.
It was the UN last trip!

Based on information provided on this topic (USEFUL) I wouldn't expect much that soon.

It was something I had heard so I asked about it.

That's all.

We'll all have to wait and see how this does or doesn't develop.

Inclusion of address reporting into THIM is a definite eventual possibility but not as yet a certainty.

It is my opinion that IF address reporting is included in THIM that the current ONLINE method to do address reporting will be phased out but that the non-online methods (in person or by mail) would remain.

I think that because it seems redundant to have TWO online methods.

We have the one online method now.

If it's added to THIM, that's two online methods.

If THIM becomes stable and reliable, why would they keep the old online method?

Complete guess work.

Has not even been integrated into THIM as yet and proposed date is fanciful.

Currently THIM even requires health update in 3 days prior to entry.

Currently zero improvement on TDAC.

And yet some can suggest THIM may facilitate 90 report.

Don't hold your breath

As topic author I suggest that this topic be closed and then if/when there is confirmed information about the development and implementation of THIM new topics can be started.

But for the record I think THIM will eventually support address reporting.

FYI here is the official link https://thim.in.th/

All Immigration software services in the future will run under THIM AWS Cloud Services.

You can think of THIM as an umbrella that all Immigration services are integrated into.

One of the advantages here us that all information can be shared between software apps on a shared infrastructure enviroment.

Today all these current immigration software and apps are disparate in nature.

Just fill out a TM30 (change of address), TDAC (last entry into Thailand), new passport, Visa or annual renewal and try to submit a successful online 90-Day report, lots of luck.

AWS have significant services like: Application Integration (Real-Time Communication),  Data Storage and File Sharing, Databases and Data Lakes and Integration and Synchronization that will allow all Immigration software and apps to share and synchronize information real-time.

So it’s an Immigration software solution strategy will evolve over time to incorporate all of its software services under a single infrastructure platform.

I attached an image that explains some of the challenges of submitting a successful 90-Day report based on changing foreigner information.

So don’t sweat it, it will be an organic progression of ransitioning software services .

There is nothing "official" at that link/website, at the top of the page it says "We are not affiliated with the Thai government."

For those interested in assistance with THIM.

I find the guys (Cal) vids very clear.

Early in the vid he points out with app to download.

Check out this video, "thim app cal in thailand" https://share.google/fblpvwO88BIPbiD2D

Travelers can download the official mobile app to streamline airport processing, create secure traveler profiles, and submit group applications for families. Future phases of the app plan to introduce online 90-day address reporting, visa extensions, and immigration appointment booking. Official App: Available for iOS Devices on the Apple App Store and Android Devices on the Google Play Store. Travelers can still complete their Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) via the Thai Immigration Website to satisfy entry requirements

I am due for another online address report soon which I will do as normal and expect it work as usual.

HOWEVER, if's my understanding that registering with THIM will become required of all tourists AND expats starting this August.

Apparently THIM handles online address reporting as well.

So does that mean the old system will go away or will there be an option to do it either way?

It will never go away....By post 15 years now my "alien" 90 day report.

It's a bit funny, actually. At a time when other countries wake up to the fact that relying on foreign (U.S. in particular) "Big Tech" companies for their critical infrastructure and government services is a bad idea due to the impossibility to mitigate the risks that come with it, here comes Thailand and rolls out a new system for immigration that is based an Amazon's AWS. To say that they live behind the moon would be an understatement at this point.

I only was asking if the current ONLINE system will be replaced by online THIM. Nothing about in person or by mail going away.

If they replace the online with phone based I won't like it but not much can be done. That is a lot of input info on a small touch screen for some shaky handed folks.

I don't like needing to do 99 day reports at all.

Official word on here is that they should no be necessary. But in the current round of IMM Act amendments it is not headed to oblivion.

I dont like it either but it has become so easy. Go to the site, select new filing and add your name, passport number, sex, and nationality. Then hit the looking glass icon and all is prefilled for you. Check the date of expirty of permission to stay. Last time I saw mine had gone from 2026 to 2027 so made the change. Submit. Instant acceptance and a reply to your email. Usually within 48 hours its accepted. Total time at the computer to complete the form is now less than 2 minutes for me. The next three times this year I dont even have to check a thing. Not painless but very close and it has now worked over 4 years without a problem 1.

Well as this topic (which it is now clear was premature) was NOT closed as per my humble request, may as well see it as a longer term monitoring topic to assess how THIM develops or over tine (or doesn;t).

Right at the moment nobody here is in a position to confidently predict the exact timing and details of THIM's future.

So wait and see.

That's a bit misleading considering the title of the thread simply asks:
"What is the future of 90 day address reporting after THIM?" - without any constraints.

OK buddy.

In a perfect world I should have clearly clarified that I was talking about only online reporting.

But I have done SEVERAL TIMES in this topic already.

Do you think I need to lawyer up?

Going back to the OP, there may be various sources for the rumours about THIM, but on YouTube within the last week I saw a suggestion by a firm of legal consultants that the THIM app will be mandatory from early next month instead of TDAC. I won't name them, but I think this is absolute rubbish. I used TDAC quite easily when I re-entered Thailand last year, and I've had no problem doing 90-day reports online, so the only real benefit if/when they actually make it work would be relief from the tedium of waiting hours to apply for an annual extension.

However, until I have to I'm not going to waste any more time trying to register on that bloody app. 45 minutes trying to get it to take a photo of my passport, then completely unable to get it to photograph me, it just kept telling me to change background, but it doesn't say what background is required. Why can't they accept uploaded photos?

Are you stating that after entering from trip abroad you were able to do your 90 report online without having to attend immigration for first report.

Which immigration office

When you guys have solved life's problems, please let me know. At age 77 I figure I can count on only about another 10 to go.

Meantime I do enjoy my trips to Surin HQ for the 90-days thing. Hop in the car with my b/f at the wheel - itself a potentially life-shortening experience so I feel the need to make the most of every second.

No, sorry if my wording was not clear. I just meant that apart from the requirement to report in person on the first occasion after re-entry, the online 90-day system always works for me.

I can see there is a logic to bringing all the functions together under one app, but to date THIM is not user-friendly and the notion that it will soon become mandatory before they've debugged it is ludicrous.

Precisely. That's exactly what I shall do: wait and see how this does or doesn't develop.

Yet, since the question "what is the future of..." has been raised, it is understandable that many now post their speculations and some express their hopes for how this should play out.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
