NGV station blast kills worker in Si Racha

A male technician was killed when an explosion struck an NGV filling station beside Road 331 in Bo Win, Si Racha district, Chon Buri, at about 4pm on 20 July 2026.

Police, disaster-prevention officers and rescuers were called to the station on the inbound side of Road 331 towards the Pak Ruam intersection after reports of a gas explosion. The victim's name and age had not been confirmed.

Bo Win police chief Pol Col Krit Thitithatsana went to the site with investigators and officers from the Bo Win Subdistrict Administrative Organisation's disaster prevention and mitigation unit.

Wall collapse trapped victim

The blast scattered concrete slabs and fragments of wall across a wide area of the station. A member of staff was initially reported to be trapped inside a room, with his condition unknown.

Later, rescuers found the body of one man under the wall. The wall had fallen on him, preventing officials from immediately removing his body.

A vehicle from the electricity authority arrived to cut the power supply, allowing rescue workers to continue their work and check whether any other injured people remained inside the premises.

Burning smell reported before blast

Station employees told reporters they had noticed a smell resembling something burning and called a technician to inspect and maintain the equipment.

While the technician was carrying out the inspection, there was a loud explosion. Concrete debris was then seen scattered across the road. Staff said they tried calling to the technician inside but received no response before rescue workers arrived.

NGV, or natural gas for vehicles, is used by some commercial and private vehicles in Thailand.

Cause still under investigation

The cause of the explosion has not yet been established. Forensic officers are due to examine the site to determine what triggered it.
