A Thai driver was filmed apparently pretending to speak only English after reportedly hitting a motorcycle and attempting to leave the scene in Pang Mapha district, Mae Hong Son.

Pang Mapha Police Station posted the footage on its official Facebook page, captioning it: "She committed hit-and-run and pretended to be an English speaker." The motorcyclist, who recorded the exchange, sustained minor injuries, according to the post.

The video shows the rider stopping his motorcycle in front of the woman's vehicle, preventing her from driving away. She initially opened the door but remained inside, speaking in English.

The motorcyclist tells her in Thai that she had collided with his motorcycle and tried to leave without apologising. He says the impact damaged his bike and left scratches on his arms.

The woman later gets out of the pickup and continues speaking English, although much of what she says is unintelligible. The rider repeatedly asks her to stop pretending to be a foreigner and speak Thai.

She continued in the same manner before eventually saying, "I'm sorry", in English.

No outcome disclosed by police

Pang Mapha Police Station did not say how the matter was settled or whether the motorcyclist took legal action against the driver.

The video drew widespread attention on Thai social media, receiving more than 41,000 reactions, 6,000 comments and 5,200 shares. Many commenters made humorous remarks about the woman's apparent attempt to communicate in a foreign language.

most thais are usually good actors, but this was a truly poor and idiotic performance. stupid is as stupid does ... should learn fist some basic englisch ...

Her most fluent English was probably " I love you to much handsome man " the rest was gibberish.

It's a motorbike, the Car/Truck should be insured. Let insurance handle it, that's what you paid the premium for, coverage incase of an accident.

I actually used that excuse in Switzerland once and it worked. Got me out of what would have been a very expensive speeding ticket. Rolled down the window for the nice police officer. He spoke to me in German, then Italian, and finally in French. Apparently English was the only language he didn’t speak. He let me off with a warning. At least I think that’s what he said.

Foreigner's reputations are so bad now that even the Thais are pretending to be them when something bad happens.

He's Thai, so he should know better than to waste his time trying to get her to admit responsibility and apologize !

Yeah, I saw the video on Thai TV3. I was also wondering where she got the truck.. I also figured BF or maybe father's. She seemed pretty drunk though.

I was always told if you keep your mouth shut people will always give you the benefit of the doubt until you open it. Obviously she was'nt told that whilst going through her adolescents. Types like her would be stacked up 20 high at the local garbage disposal if it wasn't for her genitala.
