Angelina Jolie reaffirms Cambodia as family home

Angelina Jolie has shared a deeply personal update about her ties to Cambodia, describing the country as her family’s “home” while reflecting on the impact of recent conflict along its border with Thailand.

Posting on Instagram, the actress and humanitarian, 51, noted that nearly 30,000 people remain displaced a year after violence erupted in the region. “Cambodia has always been a special country for me and my family. This is my son’s country of birth, our home is here,” she wrote, highlighting her Maddox Foundation’s work in conservation, education and healthcare in the Samlout area.

Jolie adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from Battambang in 2002 and has maintained close ties to the country ever since. She revealed that the foundation, headquartered near the conflict zone, was forced to evacuate staff last year but has now resumed operations. “We’re grateful to have resumed our work protecting the land and supporting the community’s health and livelihoods,” she said, adding that her heart remains with those still unable to return home.

The update comes shortly after Jolie reiterated her intention to leave Los Angeles once her youngest children reached adulthood. With twins Knox and Vivienne turning 18 earlier this month, she has signalled plans to spend more time in Cambodia and with family worldwide.

Her message underscores both her personal bond with Cambodia and her commitment to supporting communities affected by conflict. For Jolie, the country is not only her son’s birthplace but a place where she has built lasting roots and friendships over two decades.

I watched Spaulding Grey's monologue again last night called Swimming to Cambodia which he described the Thailand in the early 80s and his role playing a bit part in The Killing Fields, in which he described the Khmer Rouge as "bug eating rednecks"

Yeah, what a wonderful place 😊

Yes, tens of thousands of former Khmer Rouge child soldiers and low-level cadres who committed or participated in atrocities still live freely and unpunished in Cambodia today.

My Thai wife and I have been looking after her niece's daughter for several months now because her home and school are virtually on the border with Cambodia and some shells landed quite close to them. We managed to get her into a school in the local village here and she seems to be very happy. The main thing is that she's safe. Her folks plan to take her back in October all being well. The border issue isn't one sided.

No it isn't but sure Angelina Jolie will, and her entourage only see it from one side.

We used to through the Chong Chom/O Smach border very regularly on our travels to Siem Reap, not any more though.

So did I in reverse, by car, for hospital visits in Khon Kaen until the THAI MILITARY closed the border at O Smach which was ironic because a new PTT gasoline station had just opened on the Cambodian side along with a 7-11 and Amazon Coffee shop both under construction and which were never to open!!

There is an alternative - land border crossing Tropaeng Kreal (Stung Treng Province, Cambodia) and Nong Nok Khiene / Veun Kham (Champasak Province, Laos) then Pakse and land border crossing to Ubon Ratchathani but long and time consuming.

Wouldn't consider giving the less fortunate a better life, silly.

I guess many of us are silly, vested in TH, along with many, raising kid / kids that aren't ours. My village orphan is the best thing that's happened for both of us ... if silly, then silly is pretty damn awesome.

Jolie, able to adopt a few more, that's way too cool. Bless her.

She has no feelings in particular about Cambodia, as all of the virtue signallers

Her existence is to show the world how great she is. Brad Pitt already knows the truth

Oh please...she's just looking to make the buzz again and get some highly exposed media coverage ....

Something deeply wrong with AN members. 20+ years of humanitarian assistance to Cambodia, and you have a problem with that.

What the hell have any of you done, except complain about others helping people. How does that much hate fester in you people. Embarrassing.

You wonder why the world is the way it is.

Help people and don't talk about it. This is just for show

Indeed the world is this way because of human need for validation. How many of us are able to let go of our ego and do what's right

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has spent years supporting the work of rangers through the Maddox Jolie Pitt Foundation (MJP Foundation) in Battambang province’s Samlot district to fight forestry crimes in Heavily Used Conservation areas.

Brad Pitt will tell you the same thing. You want me to look up his phone number for you?

Everytime she talks about, and gets a little press, the Maddox Foundation probably get an influx of funding. Just think if her followers only donate $1 a year each.

You don't think her celeb friends aren't looking for a tax deduction to make themselves feel good, while helping.
