A Bangladeshi resident of the complex brought the boy to a nearby clinic, where he was found unresponsive and subsequently transferred to Penang Hospital. Medical staff at the hospital discovered multiple bruises on the child's body and immediately lodged a police report.

Post-mortem Findings and Suspects

A post-mortem examination revealed that the boy died from head and body injuries caused by blunt force impact. Police have detained four individuals in connection with the case, including the child's mother—an Indonesian national who works at a restaurant—and her Bangladeshi partner. The two foreign nationals remanded on July 24 are neighbors of the deceased child, both in their 30s.

Investigation Status

Timur Laut Police Chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad confirmed that investigations are proceeding under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Additionally, the child's mother and her boyfriend are being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. Both were issued remand orders by Magistrate Nadratun Naim Mohd Saidi, extending until July 30 to enable thorough investigations.

The child is believed to be the son of the Indonesian mother from her previous marriage to a Rohingya man who died in 2025. Police are recording statements from multiple witnesses to complete their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
