Ubon Candle Festival Chosen for Tourism Promotion Pilot

The Tourism Authority of Thailand selected the Ubon Ratchathani Candle Procession as one of three pilot Signature Thailand Events. The 2026 festival ran from July 28 to 30, combining its traditional Buddhist Lent celebrations with new evening attractions. Additions included illuminated Nong Mamuang sculptures and a glowing scented-candle procession designed to present local culture in a contemporary style. TAT is promoting the festival internationally through media trips, influencers and marketing directed at long-haul travellers. The initiative supports the agency’s strategy of encouraging longer visits, greater local spending and more travel beyond Thailand’s established tourist destinations. I want to give a heartfelt thanks to the TAT for inviting me to enjoy this extraordinary display of Thai culture. The trip has proven to me once again that there are so many unique and interesting experiences to discover here in the land of smiles, and if you're making plans for your next trip to Thailand, I encourage you to check out this staple of Issan culture.

It is really a great pleasure, methinks NOT, to be informed AFTER the event. Keep up the good works TAT. I am sure the Thailand hospitality thanks you for doing such a splendid job.
