What is the procedure if anyone know, for bringing a bottle of liquor and wine through security when traveling abroad (bought in the country, by the way)

As far as I know it is not allowed in carry on luggage. If you want to take it with you it needs to be with your checked in luggage. They wont even let you through security with a bottle of water. If anyone knows a way it can be done would be interesting to know.

From; buy it in duty free. They will give it to you in a sealed bag?

To; have the legal amount in a Duty Free bag.

NB. There will be no Lao Khao in Duty Free that is in "souvenir" stores further down the concourse.

Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels (LAGs): Containers must not exceed 100 ml. Larger containers, even if partially empty, are not permitted. All LAGs must be placed in a resealable plastic bag (max 1 liter in total) for inspection at security checkpoints. Liquids bought in duty-free shops must remain in tamper-evident sealed bags with proof of purchase on the same travel date.

A bit strange, but then Thailand clearly does not use "Security Tamper Evident Bags" as defined by ICAO. However not a big deal anyway.

Your question doesn't make sense. Those rules are specifically for DUTY FREE. You said the the bottle you want to bring was bought in the country, not that it is bought from duty free.

You cannot bring a bottle of alcohol through security. They will confiscate it or make you throw it away. If you got through security in the international terminal, and THEN buy the alcohol from duty free, they will seal it in a duty free bag and you can take it on the plane.

Within Thailand, no bottle can exceed 100ml with a total of 1 litre in a sealed plastic bag when passing through security.

If it is bought in Thailand (non duty free) and you are exiting Thailand then you would need to pack it in your checked baggage.

I recently brought a bottle of spirits from UK purchased duty free. I was on split ticket to my final destination which meant retrieving luggage and checking in for my onward flight. I was told I would need to check the bottle within checked baggage although it was in a sealed duty free bag even though I had not left the airport.

The issue was I had gone landside. If I had remained airside and my onward transfer had been part of a single ticket I was told this would not have been an issue and I would have been allowed to take the bottle through security.

That's not how it works. These bags (STEBs) are only available from the duty free shops for items purchased there. Your pre-purchased bottle isn't going to make it past the scanners.

Of course and my wife and I do it the other way. Packing nice wine, and other nice liquor in bubble wrap to bring home. Normally two bottles in each checked suitcase. Never a problem one. Its gone when you check in makes it even easier.

So you're going to pour the alcohol out of the bottle into 10 100ml bottles? Because the carryon rules are clear, and the same for many countries. Clear containers, none larger than 100ml, and then all of those smaller containers must be inside of a clear plastic bag, not totaling greater than 1L in total. You trying to bring a bottle of wine is not possible. These have been the rules across most of the world for what, 20 years now? Probably more.

Just a correction, they seal the bag only if you have a connection flight, and not necessarily or necessary done for a direct flight

Too bad. My "better half" got some quit expensive bottles at a charity dinner last year but none of us drink so I was thinking to take with a bottle or two back home where I know my sister love wine. 😥

Just check it in, as you're going back home with baggage right? They wouldn't let me on the plane with a jar of Dalfours jelly in carry on. When I come back from the states, I bring wine, Tequila, jellies, Spaghetti sauces, and others.

It's pretty easy to pack them in your suitcase, just a bit of thinking needed in terms of protection.
