Miss World contestants begin week-long Vietnam tour

More than 100 Miss World 2026 contestants have begun a week of activities in Hai Phong, marking the start of Vietnam’s first turn as host of the international pageant.

Events begin in Hai Phong

The 111 contestants received their official sashes at a ceremony on Thursday before starting a programme that will continue in the northern port city until 20 August. Participants represent countries and territories from around the world.

Hai Phong is hosting several important stages of the 73rd Miss World competition. Organisers expect the international event to promote Vietnamese culture and draw attention to local attractions as the country seeks to strengthen its tourism profile.

Contestants have been divided into groups for filming and visits around the city. Their itinerary includes a mangrove forest, Thuy Tinh Water Park and Dragon Beach, giving organisers an opportunity to showcase Hai Phong’s natural and recreational destinations.

Talent, food, fashion and sport

A talent audition on Sunday will feature music, dance, performance, painting and traditional arts. Successful contestants will advance to the formal Talent Show later in the competition.

The Chef Beauty programme follows on Monday, with contestants learning about Vietnamese ingredients, dishes and food traditions while introducing culinary customs from their own countries. Ambassadors’ wives are also expected to take part in the exchange.

Dragon Beach will host Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVI and the Top Model competition on 18 August. Judges will assess runway skills, poise and stage presence. A sports challenge on 19 August will conclude the Hai Phong portion of the programme.

What it means for foreigners in Vietnam

Residents and visitors in Hai Phong may see increased activity around participating attractions and Dragon Beach, with heavier visitor numbers possible on event days. Travellers interested in the programme should confirm public access and schedules directly with venues because some competition activities may be restricted.

After Hai Phong, the delegation will travel to Nha Trang for further contests, interviews, cultural performances and Beauty With A Purpose activities. The Miss World 2026 grand final is scheduled for 5 September, extending international attention on Vietnam’s tourism destinations through the coming weeks
