In 1 hour cleaning, cooking, washing,???

I doubt it

Mostly who ask 13k a day don't do that either... They maybe wash some parts of you and clean it and cooking will be an outdoor meal that is not included in the 13k hehe

No official figures, no named providers, no evidence it’s widespread… but apparently they’ve got the daily rental rates nailed down. 😂 13,000 baht a day? Bloody hell. At that price I’d expect her to

So they are suggesting some Thai women enter into relationships for money? I wonder how many Viet women marry broke and homeless men!

Funny that the comments aren't that it's incorrect but that it doesn't cost that much.

This is going to bite them, It happens in Vietnam too, and growing.

Is it a bar fine if you "rented" her from a construction company ?

Think about more like a lending library where the book was never returned

Meaningless and inane statement.

My apologies for thinking that you could've had a sense of humour.

Thai women haven't grown up thinking, or being taught, that they should be the same as men, as many western women have.
One nice thing about Thai ladies is a femininity that has become less common in Western women. (IMHO)

Really?

Then I'll stay with my wife🥹

Whatever it is, if you married her, it's a payment into perpetuity 😉

Meaning you have sex once a year, with a pregnant lady and an on call cardiologist?

Nah mate, you’ve completely misunderstood the warranty package. That’s the premium model — I was talking about the basic one. 😂

Them Vietnamese are dam clever it's only taken them 50 odd years to work this one out!

These arrangements probably started before the Vietnam War, but they grew big time as servicemen came here, picked up a bargirl of such, and set up relationships that were financially profitable to the girl as well as beneficial to the man.

Had a friend in the 90s who used to come to Thailand on his holidays for 2 weeks. He would call his friend and she would be waiting for him at the airport. She stayed with him the whole trip, and all her expenses were paid, along with a few thousand baht to help her sick relative.

We have also heard about the bargirl who has a bunch of farang on her phone who come here at different times of the year,

Girls do it all the time. It makes sense that you invite a girl to be with you; she simply takes time off from the bar. You don't have to worry about anything, and you have a companion.

Now consider if you have a wife or girlfriend, and you go on a holiday, you probably will spend more and get less sex and enjoyment.

You still have to pay for everything and give her some money to spend. What is the difference

Bt.7600.00 will get you a monthly rental in Vietnam.

Same rates apply in 🇹🇭

All wives are rental wives though. Just try to make them pay the rent, you'll see how fast they split.

Tien Phong cited prices of around 13,000 baht a day for arrangements of fewer than seven days, falling to 9,000 baht a day for longer bookings. It put the cost of a month-long arrangement at roughly 50,000 baht.

I could hire an entire factory workforce for that.

Thailand minimum wage

337 baht a day x 31 days =

10,448.00 baht or US $315.14 a month

13.000 a day??

Obviously maths wasn't Tien Phong's favourite subject in school

An article like that will drive the prices up in Thailand.. Back in 2001 paid 10K Bt for a whole month.

how baths do you think 60 million dongs are ?

I imagine it would take quite a few baths to clean up after 60 million dongs.

So for many older farangs the choice as they age and need a bit or a lot of help with daily activities along with some sort of companionship might well be go back to farangland and go into some sort of assisted living home for 5-10 k usd a month...or even worse a nursing home.

If you can find a pleasant dependable older thai gal that is willing to come and live with you, look ater you, help with food, help with doctor appts etc, help with getting around, and she lives with you...maybe sharing your bed or maybe having her own room....what is the problem. Pay her a proper salary and clearly outline what you expect. Alternatively skip the living together and arrange for several days/nights a week so at least you have someone helping and checking on you. Maybe get a thai speaking friend to even check with local hospitals to see if a retired nurse might be available?

Recently there was an american guy who lived in condo next to me who was in a wheel chair with lot of problems. He had a brother and wife thai team that came to his condo every single day to cook clean and help him with whatever he needed including rolling him around outside a bit every day even if just to condo lobby to sit and watch coming and going. No idea how much he paid them but they all seemed to be ok with the arrangement and no doubt it was cheaper than back in USA land. He did ultimately decline to the point that he needed to be in a hospital and a friend of his arranged a very expensive flight back to USA where he apparently soon died.

Frankly that sort of arrangements is much more appealing to me than the idea of a USA nursing home or assisted living as I do think the level of care from a nice thai gal would likely be better than you would get in some "professional" facility that could very well clean out all your bank accounts very quickly.

I imagine the Thai grapevine would come up with a lot of candidates if you spread the word of what you were looking for and go ahead and get it arranged sooner rather than later. If possible also maybe a good idea to have a younger farang trusted friend to meet the gal and check from time to time to make sure nothing out of order going on and perhaps facilitate monthly payments and cash for living expenses rather than go all in giving gal atm cards etc. In other words don't be stupid.

Well when it comes to shelter in Thailand, I've always found renting better than buying.. So... maybe renting wives suits some too? Not me. But so what?

I see they have real cutting edge journalism there in Vietnam.

After learning my lessons, the hard way with three marriages and three divorces I have found that friends with benefits works for me.... to be honest, I don't know of anyone who subscribes to friends with benefits that says it doesn't work

Trouble for many Western guys they go thru decades before learning these lessons. In the end for the vast majority they have lost loads of money. Its gone on the property, the family, her kid's college, her car, tractor, land, crops etc., The ATM is in town. This is inevitable when most girls get no pension unless they work in professional and government jobs.

Some gains are there yes mainly for a while especially if both younger and do really enjoy their relationship. But in the end the reality dawns- she will not have an income or parents sell most land as country dwellers no pension really, so the girlfriend or wife after 45 to 60 etc will need your money for her pension or income and so on. All guys after 40- ish will tell you money for Thai lady/partner and the need for more money becomes dominant.

They are probably as much use as a chocolate fireguard, purely ornamental.

They're just talking about escorts. Certainly there are some escorts who get that much. They're just not using the word "escorts."

Yes, but all of SE Asia's journalism is either directly or indirectly censored (e.g. 'self-censored' - including Thailand.) While many people smirk at journalism and journalists, it can be a dangerous profession - some countries more than others. Dangerous meaning either physical or legal. The Criminal Libel law in Thailand is the main reason Thai media has no investigative journalism programs. The 'news' is all about car crashes and/or deaths/violence (or Thaksinesque as the elites are scared of him/them) - never about the hidden hands that run the country (for themselves, at the expense and hardship of the majority). Even in Singapore, the main print/online media outlet covers foreign news straight up. But when it comes to domestic news? Nope - self-censored.

Well you're right -- but still the Vietnamese heart-throb in the movie wearing that traditional VN garb was Thai.

I was not debating your statement.

My point was that there were probably a lot of Thais in the film dressed as Viets.
