I guess you could call that stuff "grass"

Sure ain't no Kentucky Bluegrass

Nor Bermuda.

Nor St Augustine.

You'll never get stripes with that.

How will you keep up with the Jones* ?

*People dumb enough to waste time and money growing something totally useless with no flowers, requires watering in dry season, no fruit or redeeming qualities other than saying look at me I'm so rich I don't need to grow food here only useless weeds

It looks like Manila Grass. I'll send a link that tells more and how to care for them. Thailand is like Texas, where some grasses need constant watering or will burn. My lawn is a combination of a few, mostly St. Augustine, which grows well but does need that water, here in the rainy season it does well, but when the rain stops, it browns. i have a huge lawn that costs a lot to water using the pump daily, so I just let it brown a little, and now it's all green...............https://easyscape.com/categories/grass?address=bangkok-thailand&filter=native

It keeps dirt out of your house, is easy and clean and walk on, protects the soil and looks good. Locals don't bother as you can't eat it.
