Carney Urges Trump to Take Trade Talks Seriously

That is obviously not what happened. Carney lied about the French language thing, and totally misrepresented it. It was not about the French language. Bureaucratic requirements driven by Canada's—and specifically Quebec's—strict language laws created an undue burden on American companies, it was about levelling the playing field. But Carney telling lies again.

So he didn't lie.

How do you 'level the playing field' against a bigger opponent?

  • It's sad to witness the decline of humanity, when bearing witness to posts such as yours and people actually 'liking' them. Is this what passes for political discourse these days? A clown show?

  • I saw Carney already begging for talks again. What a surprise. It's hard to take Carney seriously though. He walks away from talks, then wants talks? He's a like a menopausal woman.

  • Carney is asking for grown ups for the trade talks and not adolescents playing with maps and AI.

Why would Carney urge Trump to take the trade talks seriously? I thought he told Trump to eff off?

He did lie, Carney framed it as if America wanted to take away Canadian sovereignty, it was nothing of the sort, just a request that extremely onerous language rules, that create a burden on US companies and distort the market, be relaxed.

Carney is lying.

You really do go all in when you decide to go on a major troll. Tens of these silly posts that I hope everyone is laughing at as am I.

Carney is lying.

Even if he embellished, that is certainly not worse than the outright lies from the other side. Are you suggesting that Donald Trump always tells the truth or perhaps even ever tells the truth?

Carney is a leftist, it's what they do.

So it's okay for Carney to lie, because there are other people that lie?

wouldn't you have done the same with the last minute changes and Trump wanting Canada to bend over and give away their independence, wonder what you would say if that was the other way around,

An adult would have said "It's late, we're all tired. Let's take tomorrow to phone home for input from our bosses and meet back up the next morning and see if we can make a deal."

BTW, your characterization of the "last minute changes" doesn't match what I'm reading, from the US side and even some Canadians.

I don't know that he lied. I just inferred that spin is part and parcel of being a politician.

You implied that in the event he did lie, it was okay because other people lie.

Carney asked for it, and the memes just keep coming.

My favorite is the Japanese anime around the 8 minute mark, but I laughed through the whole video.

A White House report labels Canada one of China's main enablers for routing exports through third-party countries to dodge American levies.

"A new White House trade report says the Trump administration considers Canada among China’s “biggest enablers” in avoiding U.S. tariffs through transshipment, a “modern form of smuggling” that the U.S. claims is costing billions in lost tax revenue.

The report released Thursday from the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy — titled “The Great Transshipment Scam” and featuring a timely image of a Trojan horse on the front page — accuses China of routing their exports through third countries with more favourable U.S. tariff rates.

An estimated 40 countries, including Canada, comprise a “shadow transshipment network” used by China, the report argues."

If it comes from Trump's WH, then it must be true! 🤣🤣🤣
