The photo of the Cartier looks like it has diamonds on the case and bracelet. If so then it may not be an authentic Cartier. With diamonds you are in the million baht plus range.

If the watches were insured there would be no doubt about their authenticity as, before the insurer accepted the risk, they would check that they were genuine.

A person who can afford a US$15,000 watch packed it inside a 500-baht suitcase with a flimsy zipper and buried it among a bunch of inexpensive clothes. Yep, sounds completely normal. Surely this happens every day. Absolutely nothing suspicious here. 😂

Obviously, when traveling with a US$15,000 watch, the safest thing to do is not wear it on your wrist. No, no. Tuck it into a cheap, insecure checked suitcase instead, surrounded by clothes worth a fraction of its value. Genius.

And the suitcase looks small enough for carry-on. But why keep it with you when you can voluntarily hand it over to baggage handlers?

Just another perfectly ordinary case of: “I own a US$15,000 watch, so naturally I put it in my US$15 suitcase and checked it in.”

I just can’t understand why anyone wears a watch anymore. All my watches, which I used to wear 20 or more years ago, are locked up in my safe. All I need to tell the time now is my phone.

Not sure why people put valuable items in the suitcase. I mean I’m starting to wonder if the theft actually happened. I know the person can’t think the airline is going to compensate them.
