Baep / Bairp Nee

Featured Replies

What does it mean please, can't get a straight answer from the wife.... :D:o

An example of use would be nice also

thanks

'In this way' / 'Like this'.

'thamai tawng nang dtit khawm thuk thuk wan baep nee' - 'Why do you have to sit glued to the computer every single day (like this)'

The word can also mean 'style' - 'taeng tua baep farang' - to dress in occidental clothes.

'khrueang baep' means uniform.

In constructions like above, 'baep nee' can be substituted for 'yaang nii' (often contracted to 'yaang-ee' in everyday speech).

It may fit more than one forum member. :o

Often heard as ...

'baep nii-ah' and 'yang-nii-ah' when coming at the end of a phrase/sentence. Why is it spoken like that-ah?

Yes, good addition.

'nia' is a spoken language corruption of the word 'nii'.

Not too sure if it can be explained - perhaps it is a contraction of 'nii' + a particle like 'ha'?

My mate's missus does that on the end of every sentence. It does my head in. ไม่เพราะเลย!

Might it be Chinese influence?
