Hi, my friends and I will be travelling from Bangkok to attend the Full Moon Beach Party on Koh Phangan. I was just wondering whether anyone could tell me whether it would be easier to go to Chumphon and get a ferry from there or go right around to Surat Chani and get a ferry from there? Can anyone help?

Hi, the easiest way is to get either the night train or bus here ,Chumphon then get the ferry to KPG. The ferry calls at Koh Tao then onto KPG. I would leave anything of value you dont wish to lose there in BKK. Enjoy :o

There have been a few threads about this already. Easiest way is obviously to fly. Cheapest is a Khao San road bus to the ferry port in Surat Thani and then boat. All inclusive and quite cheap. BUT, valuables are often stolen on these buses.

Best way is train IMO. You can actually sleep on the train and you can book a train/boat combination ticket at the train station. Do so a few days in advance of when you want to go if possible --2nd class sleeper. I prefer AC.

SBK Why if you are travelling on a bus would you want to go past a ferry port to go to another ferry port. You are travelling another 200km south to then get a ferry north. It dont make sense! You can fly but then have to get bus and ferry from don sak. For me the train is the best option. First class sleeper for around 1100 - 1300 is great. Train gets into Chumphon early morning, breakfast in town then 0700 ferry, Sorted :o

KS road bus/boat ticket to Phangan is substantially cheaper than the Lomprayah bus/boat combination ticket. I said CHEAPEST, not best, easiest or most logical :o
