Voa 30 Days Possible To Get 2 Month Tourist In Malaysia?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

My name is Terry and a newbie on this forum. This is my problem.I will be coming to thailand from greece on a VOA(british citizen)so i normally get 30 days. The thing is i would like to travel in thailand for about 6 months.Am i able to leave thailand after 1 month-go to malaysia for example?and get the 2 month tourist visa and return to thailand and then just do monthly visa runs?I am not able to get a tourist visa through the thai embassy in greece as i am not a greek resident and have only been in greece on a four month travel holiday. And would i need to buy a onward air ticket because of the VOA(closed or open ticket?)Many thanks for your help.

You will hear different opinions, but if I were you, I would do it this way:

buy your return air ticket as you like

buy a second return ticket (Bangkok to Penang) which leaves within 30 days of arrival in Thailand, this way if they won't board you because you are staying a long time with no visa, just show your ticket out to Penang within 30 days and all should be OK to board

Go to Penang before 30 days and get a 60 day tourist visa. You could try for a double entry also.

If you get a single entry, get a 30 day extension in Thailand. After that, do visa runs after each 30 day segment you need to get new stamps.

If you get a double entry, just do one visa run and one in country 30 day extension, and you are good to stay and go.

Happy travels.

HI Jingthing,

Thanks for the info.So say for example i came into bangkok on a single ticket, but i have a onwards ticket from Phuket-Penang in the next month.Would this be feasible?thanks

I think you are talking about a one way ticket from Athens to Bangkok? It would be better if you buy a RT ticket. Some airlines might give you a hard time on boarding even if you can show a ticket to Malaysia. You should call the airline for specifics. I thought if you could show your air ticket out in Penang, you'd have a better chance of getting multiple entries, but not an expert about that, not even sure they are giving any multiple entries these days.

Have you tried to obtain a tourist visa in Greece? The Embassy web site makes no mention of any restrictions for UK passport holders in obtaining tourist visas.
