See it's all favoritism, no one cares about us or wants to say nice things to cheer us up. Bad backs and stubbed toes can be very painful but do we start threads looking for sympathy, no... we're too considerate to waste other peoples time.

Actually felling down is pretty good description as gives the image of a big strong tree that you admire for its strength and stedfastness suddenly cut down. Something very regal and awe inspiring with trees. Hate seeing when one has been cut, but thankfully in your case, your felling is not permanent!
