Arrivals to Vietnam surge

VNAT reports that Vietnam welcomed over 14% more tourists through July 2007 than the same period last year.

Vietnam tourist arrivals for the first seven months of the year jumped 14.47% from 2,149,513 in 2006 to 2,460,466.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in the month of July alone, arrivals climbed 13.20% from last year’s 303,000 to 343,000.

VNAT reported the top three markets for first seven-months were China , South Korea and the US . However, arrivals from China slid by 10.52% from 358,158 arrivals during the same period last year to 320,479 this year.

South Korea arrivals jumped 25.13% from 236,519 to 295,955, while the top long-haul market, the US , recorded 7.91% growth from 240,561 arrivals to 259,589.

Visitor numbers from Thailand were ranked ninth, surging 34.18% from 69,789 during the first seven months last year to 93,644 this year.

VNAT reported arrivals by air increased 26.4% from 1,518,711 during the seven-month period last year to 1,919,586 in 2007.
