got a guy in bar who has yesterday gone to jontiem soi 5 for a extention for multi entry visa they tell him he can have only 7 days, now i was under the impression he could have 30 days and 7 was for voa?

The only entry that will normally receive a 30 day extension of stay is a tourist visa. All others are limited to 7 days (unless you meet conditions such as employment/education/marriage and such).

The only change is that all the "emergency" type extensions are limited to one 7 days now - some offices would issue 15 or 10 and some would issue more than one in the past. It has never been policy to provide 30 day extensions for anything but tourist visas or as under review periods for one year extensions.
