Good Driving School In Bangkok?

Hi there,

does anyone know a real good driving school in Bangkok, maybe even in the Sukhumvit Area? My wife wants to get the driving license and I think that is a good idea. I just want to be sure that she really can drive a car after she finishes school. How much does it cost to get the license?

A not too bad driving school is at Lat Prao. It's only a 1 minute walk from the underground station. (Lat Prao)

If I am not wrong, you take exit 3. Ask the staff from the underground, they know.

You have to pay 3,600 Baht for 20 hours. Many cars and teachers available. The school has their own circuit. To get the driving license, one of the teacher will go with your wife. You have to pay 1,000 Baht and another 1,000 Baht tea money to make sure, she doesen't fail and has to go twice for the test.

I too had the same worries recently and the best advice I can give you is take a month off work and teach her yourself. WE spent a lot of time around the back of Seri Centre as its nice and quiet prcticed parking and use of mirrors before advancing onto Srinakarin road. Shes pretty good now. Her actual driving school (joke) took her round a big car park where several students shared a car and took the test after 5 days "practice". They were never taken onto a real road it was hilarious and would explain the driving standards a lot there.

Do it yourself its the only way.

Judging by the overwhelmingly high standards of courtesy and general driving skills on the roads of Bangkok one would assume the place is brimming with driving academies of the highest quality.........

Hi, sent my wife to a driving school in Samut Prakan a couple years ago, pretty much what the above says, but NO tea money was asked for, or needed. You can take a number of different hours of lessons for different costs, and I even sent my sis in law and bro in law to the same school so they could get their licenses as well. Very satisfied with their instruction for my wife, but I have also assisted quite a lot in teaching her. She is a good driver now, too careful and slow, but a good driver!

Hi, I see this information has not been updated in a while.  That 3600 rate sounds great, but I'm sure it's more now.   Can anyone provide a name or website for a good school?    English or Thai speaking is OK.

Hope people realise this is an 11 yr old topic

I am therefore closing this thread and suggest someone start a fresh one in the Bangkok forum.
