Yes please! you can be assured of at least one more listener for at least three and a half minutes and you may be on the road to success.

Good Luck!

Update

We are now running a test transmission on our website www.pcnfm.com while we wait for the transmitter and telephone lines and everything else to be installed in Phuket. We are running the stream from Pattaya to allow us to test the hardware and software in readiness for the FM broadcasting in Phuket. Just click on the Phuket station and the stream will open automatically. The website also features a live playlist (which appears to be working!!!!).

This is CLOSE to the real thing, but is not quite the finished version. Please take a listen and I hope you enjoy what is to come on 101FM (as soon as the Kit is delivered!!!!)

Hi Howard...

Did a bit of searching You never said there was a forum for the New PCN FM 101...God don't people moan a lot, never knew the Music situation was so bad Over there in Thailand...Anyway for those who Don't know me... I am the Guy Who did the Radio ID's for the station...Just a little introduction...Hi All!!......

Hi Howard...the stream Still don't work for me...question mark on the Quicktime Logo....re-installed everything still no go!

Hi Howard been listening to the stream from PCN 105 FM and well,I may have said Pattaya a little wrong a bit of a mis-pronounciation on my part But I will Correct That now I know how it is said...LOL!!!...

Cheers Derek!

2,900 tracks,,, thats not really a huge playlist........ I have 12,000 stored on my hard drive.

You say that there won't be a D.J., is it some sort of automated system that pre-selects the tracks direct from your computer?

I look forward to tuning into to your station. My 1 year old son could do a better job of selecting tunes than this current mob.

Actually most commercial stations in the UK work off a playlist of between 1,800 and 2,000 tracks, many of the tracks are on high rotations....2 or 3 hours before they are repeated. PCN FM 101 will be a 24 hour automated radio station using one of the latest radio automation software packages. Songs are on a minimum rotation and artist seperation is also used to ensure you don't hear two Micheal Jackson songs in the same hour (for example). I have more than 50,000 tracks on my computer but I have chosen the commercial hits from my collection which is the music policy for the station. We will be adding new tracks every week.

By the way, I have no definete start date in Phuket as yet, still waiting for the transmitter to be built and sent down to Phuket...we are streaming a test transmission and thanks to the people of Phuket and others interested in the station, we have already recieved useful feedback and some advertising enquiries which is also nice!!!

Any chance of a few Thai cool ones like Loso etc? By the way nice to see you HM1973... remember the days at pattaya today?

Hi Everyone,

Well, our online testing of the software is now complete and the stream will now be silent for a few days as we transfer everything down to Phuket in preparation for the big switch-on. After a few delays in building the transmitter and receiving some of the FM equipment we are now ready and in a few days PCN FM 101 will begin.

More details soon!!!

Well.....with this being Thailand...things always change at the last minute......

Unfortunately we have had to change our frequency at the last minute which means we are now on 102 FM and NOT 101 FM

We are on air now, and are just dealing with initial sounds problems following the set up of the transmitter. At this point I would like as much feedback as possible and an idea of the range of the station. Any replies to this topic would be much appreciated. Unfortunately the jingles mention 101....I will get this changed however it is going to take a few days so please understand.

Had some bad luck with our computer.....it fried.....we are streaming again and hope to be on-air in the next few days in Phuket. Also our transmitter decided to topple over.....this has now been fixed.

Certainly not as smooth as our opening of the Pattaya Station, but I like a challenge!!!!

I will keep you all updated a soon as we are fully on-air.

Don't forget we are on 102 and not 101 FM!!!

I think we are there now......everything seems OK and all the initial problems appear to be sorted out.

I would really like some feedback on the quality of the station and any suggestions or criticisms. You can either post here or email me

Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far with comments.

Hi Howard,

I found the station on the car radio yesterday and the music was fine BUT it appeared to me that the signal was very weak and kept fading out. I was near the Chalong roundabout at the time...

As of 7 pm, by the Heroines´s Monument, nothing. Nor Phuket Town.

Our transmitter is based in Patong and we are currently experiencing some power distribution problems which should be fixed soon.

  • Author

I have just checked with my technicians who tell me that the Tesco-Lotus is on the outskirts of the signal coverage area. We have based outselves in Patong and therfore the further you go out from Patong, the signal will get weaker. Phuket Town coverage will be very limited unfortunately, but we had to make a decision about where to base ourselves and due to power restrictions by the Thai Authorities, Patong seemed the logical choice.Don't forget that we are streaming as well at www.pcnfm.com for those that cannot hear us on the FM.

Web site just timing out. Not loading at this time/date ... :o

Ooh ... it's working now....

At the time you logged on we hit our maximum number of slots...sorry for the delay in logging in!!!!

That sucks. I was hoping your station was geared towards expats, not tourists. Oh well...

  • Author

It's geared for everyone but total coverage of Phuket is not possible and the businesses most likely to advertise were based in Patong following some pre-launch research.

In about two weeks I will be launching a Phuket Portal site. Could I add the live feed to the page?
