Has this issue bee resolved to any degree? I mean the issue if one enters on a visa exempt status (have not exceeded 90 days with in 6 months) but you happen to get to the airport 3 days before a new 6th month period begins. (know what I'm trying to say?) . No problem right? You get a new 30 day stamp?

My 2nd 6 month period is April 23, 2007-October 22, 2007

Entries with in this period were July 29, 2007-August 11= (14 days)

(Go to Singapore)

Come back from Sing August 15-19=4 days

Total days in 2nd 6 month period = 18 days

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3rd 6 month Period starts (October 22-November 5, 2007

But I'm geting to Bangkok on October 20, 2007. I get more than 2 days right? Or I get 2 days in the 2nd period and then 28 days carried over to the 1 year anniversary? Right? :o

Have not seen a bunch of posts saying people only got 3 days lately so hopefully that indicates a more pragmatic interpretation is in common usage and if you are not and will not exceed 90 days you get the normal 30 day stamp. But I would continue to recommend tourist visas and not get into a position that it matters. It could be people have just stopped reporting incidents.

What 6 month periods are you talking about? I have lived in thailand on a tourist visa for 7 years now (working out of thailand). each time i come home the immigration official counts back 6 months from the date i arrive to see how many days i have spent in country. So the way i see it is that on the day of your departure after your next visit you must not have spent more than 90 days in six months. You seem to me making it sound much more complicated than it really is.

The original interpretation by some Immigration officers was that the six month periods were fixed from first entry and count forward. So if you enter on Jan 1 and came back on Jun 20 you were stamped in for only the days remaining in that six month period (10 days) regardless of how many days you had used. And this was enforced.

What are you talking about the last 7 years? This new regulation just came into effect last October 2006. I'm I missing something here? I think I'm ok and that a reasonable interpretation allows overlap so long as the 90 days has not been exceeded. just wondering if anyone had encountered the issue and had a problem.
