No Visa - Arriving Bkk Airport - Return Flight 7 Weeks Later

Featured Replies

Hi,

just recognised that i am in trouble.

i am flying this sunday to bangkok. my returnflight is on the 16.oct. and i dont have a visa as i thought i will get an 30 day visa on arrival at the airport. my plan was to leave the country to laos within 30 days and reenter to thailand over laos or cambodia couple of weeks later.

after reading this article http://backpacking.gapyear.com/visas/thail...nformation.html

i guess i am in trouble. i dont think there is a way for me to get the visa until sunday, so what do you think are my options?

according to the article posted above it is possible to enter thailand if i have a flight out of thailand within 30 days.

so what do you think i should do?

- book a flight now Bangkok - Vientiane/Phnom Penh within the 30 days and then reenter from one of the countries by land? Will this work 100%?

- or risking flying to bangkok without any visa. i heard its possible i wont even get on the plane as the airlines are checking visa. :o

thx,

fernweh

dont worry they newer check or ask the return ticket i newer see

Fernweh79, It is a requirement to have an onward ticket within

30 days entering on a visa-exempt entry. The 1st problem you

may have is attempting to board the flight in your home country

without proof of onward travel. An onward flight ticket to Laos

would suffice. At the present time, you are able to re-enter

Thailand by land at the friendship bridge Nong-khai, again with

a visa-exempt entry without showing proof of onward travel.

I can't quite make sense of your statement that your return ticket

is dated October 16th? If you fly to Phnom Penh and attempt to

re-enter Thailand by land at Poi-Pet/Aranyaprathet again with a

visa-exempt entry you WILL be asked to show an onward flight.

The current situation is different at many of these locations, it's

best to work within the specified requirements rather than be

surprised at the airport when they DO ask to see your tickets.

The internet article you're referencing is already out-of -date.

Extensions for visa-exempt entries are now only good for 7 days.

You seem to already have a good understanding of what you need.

Lopburi3 is the authority on these visa issues and has experience

with a few more thousand case studies. He seems to have the ability

to explain this in simple terms and it's just sometimes not easy to do.

If it was me, I would book an onward flight to Vientiane of Phnom-Pen

and just find a way to incorporate that into my plans. Problem solved.

whay country are you in? In Australia you can buy a visa at Brisbane and have it within 30 mins.. also they always check my visa on departure but only if i staying more than 30 days

I'm thinking now you meant to write your return flight was

November 16th. So purchase onward ticket to Vientiane/

Phnom-pen to depart within 30 days of your arrival and then

you will have your return flight to show as proof of onward

travel when you re-enter Thailand from Laos/Cambodia. :o

Provided you give successful plausible stories to the airport check-in officer and the Thai immigration officer, stay your first 30 days and take a visa run with Jack Golf to Ban Laem (the Cambodian border). Mind you, Ban Laem not Poi Pet! There you will be able to buy a bus ticket for 200 baht which is accepted as your confirmation ticket into Thailand.

Simple and cost effective ....

basically it depends on your age and appearance and what country you come from. if you are a person of colour (ie hail from a third world country) it's very likely they will adhere to the rules and ask to see your return ticket and maybe even proof of funds. if you are a first world 20 something backpacker looking type, they may do the same. if you are middle-aged business man dressed from the 1st world, it's likely you won't have any trouble. i didn't last week when i returned from the states without a visa. no check nada...just 5 seconds to look at my passport, take my pic, and a 30-day stamp :o

Ask a travel agent in your country to book a flight out of Thailand within the 30 days.

Get a confirmation and keep a copy of the booking.

Cancelthe reservation and no need to buy the ticket

This will get you pass the check-in counter and also the immigration desk at Bangkok if they even ask to see something

If you really want to be sure buy yourself a cheap one way on tiger or airasia to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore or nearer and through it away

Good luck

They never asked before but they asked me last time!

If you have an honest ticket out and you do not have Thai stamps and look like a backpacker I dont think youll have any problems.

Take some cash and a card/s

Now, I think better to be a 20 something backpacker than a tatooed 40 something Englishman with 80 Thai stamps in his book (only Thai I might add).

Thx for the answers!

I"m sorry. Of course i meant returnflight Bangkok 16.november. Otherweise as cali4995 mentions it would make no sense.

@cali4995

just dont get what you mean with this sentence?

If you fly to Phnom Penh and attempt to

re-enter Thailand by land at Poi-Pet/Aranyaprathet again with a

visa-exempt entry you WILL be asked to show an onward flight.

When re-entering Thailand i will have my onward flight ticket back to Austria/Europe. Of course i would try to re-enter not 30 days before the return flight :o

I am buying the ticket Bangkok - Phnom Penh and hope everything goes well.

thx again!
