Secondhand Clothes

Featured Replies

I just had a huge clear-out of my wardrobe and so have an enormous bag of secondhand clothes. It would be such a waste to throw them away as most have barely been worn and are in great condition. (I have to admit there may even been a few things with the label still in! :o )

Anyone know where I can take them or a deserving cause that might make use of them?

Cheers :D

That's the outfit run by Fr Joe Meier down Klong Toey way.  In addition to kids stuff, there's a lot of poor adults in the area who could probably make use of such items.  Even if XLs, could perhaps take apart and make quilts for sale, rugs, etc.

Support your local neighborhood Wat.... By donating, it helps those in need and you gain merit by your donation.

The St Vincent dePaul Society at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Soi ruam rudee off Pleonchit road is always collecting clothing as well as anything else that is reusable for the poor. They are located at the very end of the Soi if you enter from Ploenchit Road.

It's a good idea to donate clothes but they should not too new

otherwise they will be at secondhand shop for sell.

I'd rather donate them than give them to a shop to sell. I contacted The Human Development Foundation who were only too happy to have them so I'll drop them in at the weekend.

Thanks for the advice as always!

Are you married if you are what about your wife's dependants , do they live in a vilage if so support the family and the local villagers they will love it

haha!

Sorry I would have thought my username and avatar would have given away that I am female - guess not! Anyhow, no Thai wife (or husband) with dependants so I'll stick to the orginal plan.

Thanks for the giggle though! :o

lol.

Ive noticed a general misconception that all TV members are male, unless posting in the female section. :o

Anyway..what i generally do and works where i am (but dunno if will work where you are) is place everything i want to give neatly in a bag and label it in English and Thai that it is for charity, not rubbish and place it at the rubbish collection area of my apartment floor. The girl who does the cleaning on the floor in the morning then takes it and sorts it out. Even if she keeps some things i dont mind..so long as the items are being made good use of. If you are in an apartment block it is worth asking them if you can do this, esp if you are not near a wat or are unable to get the items to a charity.

Ooh! That's excellent news! I reckon I live in just that kind of block so will enquire when I get home from work. It would save me a trip anyway.

Thanks for the advice eek!

Partnersworld.org takes clothes; these will be given to Burmese.

Otherwise local wat, otherwise as Eek suggests.
