Muay Thai & Shopping - Where Best To Stay?

I am in BKK for 2 days in late October either side of a holiday to Ko Samet with my girlfriend (we're from the UK).

I want to visit the Lumpini and Raja stadiums, buy some Muay Thai stuff (shorts/gloves etc).

She wants to spend all her money in Siam Square (clothes/shoes/knock-offs etc).

Where's best to find a hotel? Am I best to find one near Siam Square and just get a taxi out to the stadiums?

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel for around 1500bht?

A possibility would be Asia Hotel Bangkok which is right by BTS Ratchathewi station. Booking thru internet or agent would get you a rate for about that price, including tax, service charge, and breakfast buffet and maybe even a one day BTS ticket card. Be careful not to book Asia Hotel Airport which is near old Don Muang airport.

The hotel is OK, though furnishings are a bit tired and need freshening, but you can't beat the convenience, as it's close to Siam Square, Paragon, MBK, National Stadium and anything else on the BTS.

Thanks for the advice, I had a look on Asiarooms and it does seem like a good deal. I'll probably go for that.

If you disappoint at Siam Area,you should check at Pratunam near Siam.

I recommended because I saw at hotels2thailand.com has many promotions at this area.
