mrt273nva
When I am in a 7-11 buying cigarettes, why is it that every time i ask for Marlboro Lights they automatically grab Reds? Does the sound Red and Light really sound that similar to Thai's? And second, how do I say "LIGHT" in Thai. OW BOOLI MARLBORO (LIGHT) KRAP. Etrigan
You have to order "Marlboro Kow", or white marlboro, so called coz of that bleached filter!

MAI OW DANG KRAP Its funny but in all my years of smoking I never once encountered this problem - I always said Ow Boori Marlboro Light Krap - I think maybe you should be saying Ow Booli Marlboro Right khrap then you will not confuse the issue with inconsistent pronunciation. JetsetBkk
see thong - gold marlboro. aaaAAAAaaahhh krap kun krap So now you know how to ask for Marlboro Lights, do you want to know how to say "Thank you" ?
soundman
see thong - gold marlboro. Well just to confuse the matter even more - Marlboro Gold has been released (a low nicotine ciggarette) & it is in a silver packet. When ordering: Marlboro Gold - "ao booree marlboroh gold song dee-oh krup." Marlboro Light - "ao booree marlboroh light (see torng) song dee-oh krup." Marlboro Red - "ao booree marlboroh see dairng song dee-oh krup." Marlboro Menthol - "ao booree marlboroh see keeoh sahm song krup." Marlboro Menthol Lights - "ao booree marlboroh mentol light sorng song krup." Of course these will all have to be probounced correctly in Thai & if you are a little out on the pronuciation the staff at 7/11 won't understand you. For tips on pronunciation check out the Thai Language forum on thai visa. Link here. Cheers, Soundman.
