I understand your point and agree this often happens. However, in the case of the specific property I'm referencing, we've been monitoring the real estate values periodically throughout the years. This particular plot is in Tha Sala in Nakhon Si Thammarat with a 40 meter beachfront on the Gulf of Thailand and has a total land mass of 2.5 rai. In 2005, we paid 750,000 baht/rai. We provided a down payment a few months in advance to our arriving in Thailand, and the seller was hoping we didn't complete the transaction because he was offered 1 million per rai after our down payment.
