I am off to Penang soon to get a new 1 year multi-entry non-immigrant O (based on marriage). Due to tardiness on my part and a postal strike in England, there is every chance I will not complete a transfer of funds to my bank in Thailand before I go.

I think I read somewhere that the bank balance you show the Thai consulates does not have to be from a Thai bank. Has anyone tried this? If I show a bank balance from England will they accept it?

It has been reported here that Penang do not need to see much of a bank balance.

I only have 60,000 in my Thai account at the moment. If the transfer doesn't come through in time then I will have to give it a go with what I have. I have never had problems with Penang before so hopefully they will be okay.

Got my Non O Multi in KL last month, I took my wife with me and didn't have to show any funds.
