October 10, 200718 yr Hi all, I did the unthinkable this morning: I left my phone in a taxi. I called the taxi service about 10 hours later (when I noticed it was missing), and gave them all the relevant details. Well, the details I HAD anyway. I didn't know the taxi number (or even colour), but I was very accurate with the time and locations. Anyone ever receive their items back after doing something like this? Additionally (and more importantly), are my numbers from the SIM card stored anywhere other than on the SIM card itself? I know it's a longshot, but would AIS have access to my numbers? Even as I type this, I know it sounds stupid, but there was a special ladies' phone number on there, and I would very much like to access it. Any help or commiseration is appreciated, BFD!
October 10, 200718 yr Left Phone In TaxiAm I <deleted>? Yes Additionally (and more importantly), are my numbers from the SIM card stored anywhere other than on the SIM card itself? I know it's a longshot, but would AIS have access to my numbers? No Anyone ever receive their items back after doing something like this? To offer a glimmer of hope. I once left my dive gear in the boot of a taxi. he came back the next day to a hansom reward. I once left my phone in a bar in Pattaya, couldn't even work out which bar. Tried calling it , it had run out of battery. The next day on returning to BKK just before I canceled it I tried calling it again. Much to my shock it rang and somebody answered it. The owner of the bar had taken it to Big C and got them to charge it for him. Returned to the bar the next day and got my phone, he also got a large reward. I was relieved the next month to see no extraneous charges on my bill. Cheers
October 10, 200718 yr Missus got her phone back from a taxi, he dropped it by later in the day when he was back in the area. If it is not answering or off or it has not been returned the same day, very little chance. I returned a phone I found in a taxi a couple of years ago, the guy turned out to be a little mentally retarded, he gave me a dozen or so books from his company in thanks. A girl I know has lost about 5 phones this year, not one returned. Edited October 10, 200718 yr by MrSquigle
October 10, 200718 yr Depends where you got out of your taxi. If it was in the street, then I guess you're <deleted>. If it was at a condo or housing estate then they usually take down the licence plate of the taxi entering. Good luck.
October 10, 200718 yr I left my phone in a taxi, my wife phoned it and the driver dropped it off about 10 minutes later. Did you phone your phone?
October 10, 200718 yr Author Yeah, I've called it all day. No answer. I've heard that I can still use that number if I get a new sim and have them program it. Anyone know about how to do this? Thanks, BFD!

You need to calling to the Service of your Provider. But I do believe you'll need to go to the police and report the loose of the phone because as I've loose once my phone I've to do so. After that they disable the card and you can get a new one but you've to pay for it.

If its post paid , just go to AIS with your passport or company docs. They will be able to give you a new sim there and then. I haven't needed a police report before. Last time because I had had the sim for x years there was no charge. If its a pre paid , you must have registered it in your name first. If you did there is a small fee. Cheers
October 10, 200718 yr Author Well, I made it to Central Bangna about 4 minutes before AIS closed. The girl there was extremely helpful (and cute, too). I have a new sim card with my old number and, while I might not have any of my old contact information, I now have the number of a cute employee of AIS! LoS = the land of opportunity. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions, BFD!
October 10, 200718 yr I left my credit cards and phone in a taxi in bangkok, it had my Chiang Mai address in at the time....the driver posted them to me with his number. I rang him and thank him and that was enough for the driver. Top man!

I know it's a longshot, but would AIS have access to my numbers? If it is a post-paid number you should have a list of all numbers you called on your monthly bills. If it is pre-paid or if you did not keep your bills, AIS should have a record of your calls in a database for at least the last 6 months, I believe, of course without names to match the numbers. Why don’t you go back to the AIS office and chat up those lovely ladies some more? -- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
