ติดต่อ

as in"ติดต่อเรา"

seems to be made up of two parts: "stick/sticky" and "later/afterward"?

is this a way of saying "contact" or "email", as in "contact me"?

Thanks!

Quite simply - "call us" - ie on the telephone.

Cheers.

Not necessarily - "ติดต่อ" refers to any kind of contact. ติดต่อเรา is the standard Thai translation for 'Contact us' on websites.

I am guessing you are confusing ต่อ with โทรฯ which is short for 'telephone' but not really pronounced the same (it's that โ vs. อ vowel difference again, plus also the initial sound - unaspirated ต versus aspirated ท ... and the tone - ต่อ low vs. โทรฯ mid.

Seems rather doubtful that soundman is "confusing ต่อ with โทรฯ" - which sound nothing alike. ติดต่อ is very common in all kinds of advertising, as is สนใจติดต่อ, both of which can be seen just about anywhere in an urban environment, followed by a telephone number.

ติดต่อ can mean contact of any form--including in person. For example, I've seen bilingual signs in the parking spaces of some places--ที่จอดผู้มาติดต่อ Visitor Parking. And if you go into a place and have to get a visitor's pass or something, you'd say มาติดต่อชั้นห้า or มาติดต่อ___ (someone's name).

On signboard advertising & phone book advertising is where I picked it from.

Cheers. :o
