Izusu's are over rated in my opinion........nothing more than a glorified tractor with so much plastic at the front that I fear their bonnets might melt when I overtake them.....

and the main reason people buy them around where I live.............. fuel economy, no.......... performance, no no............ price, no no no............ the reason they tell me is that they didnt want the same as everyone else who drives the Vigo

Makes me laugh all the time, dont buy the best because they dont want to be the same as the rest.............

Great, thought that would start some action! Mines better than yours da di dah di dah :-)

Drinking days are over. Yes am still looking for the vigo white exclusive, but cannot find one. btw it doesn't me because it outsells means it is better. That's just marketing. Look at Unix and Windows!

Weren't you saying the other day that it was crap compared to the Vigo, and that you regreted buying it? Or am i thinking of another Mikethevigoman?

no not me,

Not you cos i wasn't talking about you Mr Kenjin. Refering to Mikethevigoman. Or do you post under different names?

Here i am!.. yes i was, however ,i have to confess, the one i was comparing was the low priced LE, compared to the top vigo exclusive model in auto,.( unfair i now realise ), however, i have traded it in for a new SE auto ! different beast altogether, the manual was a slug in the low 3 gears, i also missed the leather, now the equipment is on par and ive personalised it and fitted a power up unit to it and i have to confess im a convert ,.the navara in the uk outsells all the other 4x4s, to be honest i had a fortuner smart on order then the dealer kept giving different delivery dates and i went off the boil, also i carry my dirt bike in the back and that wouldnt have been possible in the fortuner !,. so im sorry for slating the navara earlier but i wasnt really comparing comparable models, and now i feel i made the right decision as there isnt as many on the roads and i enjoy personalising my vehicles and thats what ive done,.should keep me amused for 6 months or so i hope ! . Now, if only i can find out how to change my name to mikethenavaraman!

Have to admit "Mike the ex Vigo man" that your new motor looks better than your old motor........ your previous Vigo was the most overdressed pickup I have ever seen and ugly to boot. I know beauty is meant to be in the eyes of the beholder but everytime I seen your old Vigo it just looked.............stupid

Try not to overdo it on this one and you might keep it a little longer :o

Well you have your opinion, can i ask what you drive ? we are all different, and it had loads of compliments, an american guy came down from chiang mai and loved it, .ive always been a bit loud where motors are concerned and couldnt really give a toss what anyone else says as i do it for me,.it also earnt me a lot of money in accessories ,the reason i had it done that way and the reason the navara is getting the treatment,. some of the stuff i sell i wouldnt want on my truck, but to each his own,..its funny though when i was in that truck all i got were compliments, it seems to be on these anonymous forums that we see the civic /jazz type drivers knocking 4x4s a lot, i hear comments like i would expect from one of my old brogue wearing school teachers, .boooooooooring !..

Too each his own but my personal opinion was that your pickup looked garish for want of a better word

as for an american commenting how nice it looked..... thats no excuse. Americans have the most garish tastes of all. Just finished watching a program called "why America Sucks" and after seeing Las Vegas in the daytime with it outlandish architectural designs I can honestly say your pickup would fit right in there and barely be noticed by all the other bling car

But if you are happy then bugger my opinion, after all it all comes down to choice

JAF

PS I drive a Vigo, modestly accentuated with minor modifications............. but no, no brogues so you cannot tar me with that particular brush

I sort of have to agree, i lived in the states for a few years and i was normal by there standards ! :D .see this is where we vary and have diffrent ideas,. i thought mine was only modestly accentuated with minor modifications !.. and my girlfriends different ! :o

Guys it's not leather you get in these pick-ups.. it's PVC.

Depends. Some brands offer leather on some models.

I don't get what's good about leather in this climate either, but it IS leather. :o

Leather (whether real or not), might be impractical when it gets hot, but at least it doesn't act like a big sponge for all your sweat, as fabric seats do.

leather is leather, they dont fit vinyl

a Vigo owner who overtakes Isuzu for fun....... and because they are soooooo slow

and then on evey bend the Isuzu come flying past because they corner sooooooooooo much better

Posted

The Isuzu DID pass the handling tests and the Toyota did NOT. As far as power, I'd guess that Toyota should have more because they DO burn the most fuel. :o

Posted

Here come the Isuzu owners........ belatedly plodding along but never pondering the conundrum that if their machine has no power and little guts that they should be able to corner easier and save fuel.....

now I dont know much about physics but isnt it true that the faster you go. the more fuel you use ??? Thus if you go sooooooo slow then of course its easier to corner and you will save a pico litre of fuel in comparison

So, in summary, to have the advantages that Isuzus have all we have to do is drive at a pedestrian speeds and then tortoise will beat the hare

Now where can I buy some brogues ??

Actually I gave false information. Nissan got the worst. The article I got my information from gave the following figures for 4X4 pickups. All had 3.0 liter engines except the Nissan at 2.5 liters. It is interesting because the tests were done at 100 KPH.

Mitsubishi @ 12.89 KPL, Isuzu @ 12.81 KPL, Ford @ 12.22 KPL, Totota @ 11.82 KPL and Nissan @ 11.20 KPL.

They also gave numbers at 90 KPH.

Ford @ 16.59, Isuzu @ 16.14, Mitsubishi @ 15.63 and Toyota @ 13.79. For some reason the Nissan numbers were missing.

The article was in Thai so I don't know any details except the figures I stated were in English. It's interesting how much they dropped going from 90 to 100 KPH. Take it for what it is worth. Maybe nothing.

The one I drive Ddi-i-Teq sits quite happily at 140, sure some Vigo’s fly by, but at the next bend I always pass them, until the next straight…. Maybe on a Freeway they would get there faster, but driving much over 110 will get you stopped.

you are the 2nd Isuzu owner to state that you overtake the Vigo easily on the bend............

Is this really the case........ you feel the Toyota slows down so much that you could overtake on a bend into oncoming traffic............... and if such circumstance should happen that you face another vehicle head on you I guess you wouldnt mind a little of the Vigos power to steer you safe from obvious danger............

This is a nonsense....... You assume to think that on slight or medium bends that the Vigo will slow but this is just not true, so we can only be talking about the sharpest of bends. To read that you have overtaken on a bend because you can, only to be overtaken again by the straight line power of the Vigo suggests that you are involved in a cat n mouse chase which you know you cannot win..........so why overtake on the bend in the first place ????

I think Isuzu owners grasp at straws. I have never been overtaken on a bend by an Isuzu....... or by any other pickup and if I did happen I would not marvel at the speed of the machine passing but would be astounded by the stupidity of the driver for making such a ridiculous manoeuvre.........

As well as Las Vegas, Mikethexvigoman's toyed up, boy-racer machine, would also fit in very nicely on the streets of Basildon, or any other town of Essex.

All a matter of taste of course. For me, once i left my teenage years behind, the urge to slap on some go-faster stripes diminished.

Isuzu????????????

i drive a chevy -the real thing not a copy made under licence!

It is surprising lt fast when I want it to be and remarkabley efficient MPG from a 3 litre turbo charged engine.

Used to drive lexus in the UK but would never survive on the roads here

Doesn't look that inspiring does it. I'm a recent convert to Mikethexvigoman's camp. The Navara in the right model and colour really looks the business. If this is the best Isuzu / Chevy can come up with, doubt the competition will be shaking in their boots.

Where did this picture come from?

I doubt Chevrolet would drop its trademark double tiered frontlights. What would that achieve? Good looks was the only thing that sells them as they are identical to Isuzus in every other way.

Another thing - testing vehicles are usually stripped of all badges and camuglaged. That's what Ford and CRV did, but maybe Chevrolet is different.

Chevy has just introduced a latest upgrade, some extra chrome piece has been added somewhere.

Ignis got it from the Bangkok Post. http://www.bangkokpost.com/161107_Motoring...07_motor010.php

NEW COMERS

Chevrolet Colorado

The Chevrolet Colorado pickup has been given its first facelift in four years, but with no mechanical and price changes. Prices start at B527,000 for the baseline 116hp RWD 2.5-litre extended cab type and top at B899,000 for the 163hp 4WD double cab.

Typical competition for RWD Colorado extended cab

- Mitsubishi Triton 2.5; 116hp 2.5-litre inline-four diesel turbo; B512,000.

Typical competition for 4WD Colorado double cab

- Toyota Hilux Vigo 3.0G; 163hp 3.0-litre inline-four diesel turbo; B874,00.

But dear Ignis, then again, in a previous post you wrote about a new D-Max 2008 coming in March 2008. I haven't seen anything yet that supports your post.

The Chevy dealer here in Surin stripped out all the 'old' stye trucks, a week ago and they now stock this new type with the more boring front end. So if you still dont believe it, come on over and take a look. Prahaps it a cunning plan to sell more D-Max :o:D

Well finally made my choice and bought the isuzu LS 3.0L VGS Turbo. Same car as Petch but automatic silver. Ordered on Wednesday, drove it out of the dealers in Cha Am on Saturday. Very happy with the first few hours of driving.

Big thank you to Petch01 for all the information he supplied to me over the last month or so as it was invaluable in making my choice.

Here's an interesting article about the new isuzu for all to read. Makes interesting reading especially the calculation for kilometers per liter :o

Been trying to follow the thread, but it's Mon morning and I can't keep up with the alphabet soup of model names. From what I gather economy is a lot better with this model.

What I'm wondering is how much is the most basic D-Max extra cab, manual, with the 2.5 motor? Also, how much is it with air bags and ABS brakes? I was looking at a 2nd hand car, but the newer cars seem to be able to get good economy while still having decent enough power.
