Visa For Travelling Then Working?

Featured Replies

Hi. Hopefully someone can help me out.

I'm British, 29 and living in England. I'm going to Thailand in January (I have a one way ticket) to travel first then try to get some tefl work. I plan on travelling for maybe a few months first including going out of Thailand at least once to visit neighbouring countries and then trying to get some work most likely in Bangkok. I would even consider voluntary work for a month if that's all I could get but would like to do paid work for a month or two. I then plan to go onto Oz but haven't bought my ticket for that flight yet. Does anyone know the best visa to get?

Is it best to get a multiple entry tourist visa then change my visa when I find work? How easy is it to change your visa like this?

Can I get a non-immigrant visa category "O" under 'to seek employment' and then travel first on it before I seek employment or would there be problem in doing this if I don't get a job for a while especially when I leave and re-enter Thailand?

Are there any other options?

All help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Just go for the tourist visa, easiest option for you. :o

Get visa at one of the UK consulates rather than the Embassy.

Naka.

Obtain a non immigrant O visa from Hull to visit friends. You are not going to be able to change a tourist visa to a work support visa for two months and I seriously doubt anyone will provide legal employment, paid or unpaid, for that period of time. You need a work permit to work in Thailand and that can only be issued to a non immigrant visa.
