In the Sept/Oct issue of the "Journal of Travel Medicine" there is an article on E Coli diarrhea (very common in our area).

It points to Loperamide (Immodium) and Azithromycin (Zythromax) as being more effective in treating the travellers skitters than Azithromycin alone.

I only used to use Immodium if I had to travel and let things pass through me so to speak but this study shows its useful in treatment too (with all the proviso's of self treatment but in my case i always have a number of Dr's on the end of the phone if I need them due to work)

I take acidophilus for a couple of days before I go and a few times during the trip and never have any problems..

Certainly been there and done that on more than one occasion! :o I usually suspect the food as my stomach pains often out vote my brain power. At any rate, I've found the Thai local chemist shops are always very helpful (norfloxacin?) and in a few days, you can't slap the smile of my face. :D
