Nipa Web Directory Www.nipa.co.th

Featured Replies

i tried looking up a website today, namely www.thailanguageschools.com and a pane appeared on the left of my screen with nipa web directory in it. Has anyone seen this before and is there a way to get rid of it? I seem to remember this happening to me before a year or so ago.

Yes, I've seen it many times...

It is NOT spyware/adware but rather some sort of captive DNS/http portal that comes up when certain URL's fail.

I've asked various ISP's about it and been told its a 'CAT' thing.

I have the same problem with this Nipa and also would like to eliminate it. I have every sort of security on my PC but it sneaked in somehow.

It pops up every time I try to do a Google search.

Can anyone tell us how to get rid of it please?

Thanks

Mandu,

If you read my post above, you'll note is not spyware/adware - its part of Thailands DNS infrastrucutre.

People using iPSTAR (sic) will see if quite often... :o

If you're using Opera, try setting Open only requested pop-ups in Preferences. If you're using IE, see the many other threads about browsers here. Another possibility is editing your hosts file to redirect that domain to your own machine, the pop-up will still happen but will be empty.
