StrongView Posted August 17, 2004 Share Posted August 17, 2004 You can try EVA Evergreen Air (Taiwanese) - they fly out of San Francisco and L.A.EVA website I have found it is cheaper to by the tickets from the office in Bangkok - but either way usually cheap and great service. The problem I have with either of them is there is no flexibility in the return flights. sfo - Bkk is 560.00 plus tax and stuff so probably around 620.00 I use a travel ageny in Sacramento - Kenny Travel, Sandra 1-800-783-9643 Not the real friendly type but always follows through on my needs and offers me good pricing on Cathay (open Jaw and open return) I like Cathay! On going add in Sunday's SacBee paper is a consolidator Travalot at 1-800-461-4111 for sfo - bkk 659.00 Though, I know nothing about them. I am planning on being in Thailand around the end of October, flying via Philippines, Hong Kong and Vietnam. They guarantee the best rates. I have flown between LAX-BKK for $500 and IAD (Washington, DC) and BKK for $700. But the rates fluctuate almost daily. I deal with their Pasadena office. Mikey7 Posted September 7, 2004 Share Posted September 7, 2004 Hi, It was a real pain trying to book to Bankok. I am traveling from Dallas and there are no US flights with more than a 30 day return. I was able to book direct with the EVA office here and it ran $920 US with a 6 month open return. This was higher than if I had flown to LAX and booked from there but I got lazy. When trying to use travelocity be sure to use the flexible flights button and not the specific dates You will still be able to book what you want most of the time. The proce of the evergreen deluxe class is less than the KLM flight here plus they use e-tickets - useful for me as my credit card billing address is not where I am right now and companies like BA insist on sending the tickets to the billing address. I fly out of SF and have found EVA to be my favorite airline, but I do go for the cheapest rate I can find, without too many stops or lay overs. Phillipine air was quite pleasent. I find Travelocity to be the cheapest place on the net to get tickets. I used an agent this time and she saved me a little bit of money. Sometimes she can get me the better deal, but it's always with China Airlines, not my favorite, but I haven't flown with that airline in a while. Japen Airlines was the worst.
