Investors keen on SET Index Options on first trading day

BANGKOK: -- Many investors paid much attention to the SET 50 Index Options as the new issues commenced trading on Monday, according to Katesara Munchusri, managing director of the Thailand Futures Exchange.

She revealed the volume of the trading of index options on the first day totaled 304 contracts, a level which was considered satisfactory.

Mrs. Katesara believed that the index options trading would grow continuously if investors had more chances to familiarize themselves with them.

Trading on Thailand's new derivative market totaled 5,973 contracts on Monday.

Of this, 5,669 contracts were SET50 Futures while 304 contracts were SET50 Options. Of the total options, 255 contracts are call options while 49 are put options.

Individual investors represent 70.27 per cent of total trading with institutional and foreign investors accounting for 23.86 and 5.90 per cent respectively.

The top three securities brokerage houses with the high trading volume include Trinity Polaris Futures, Kim-Eng (Thailand) Securities Plc and KGI (Thailand) Plc.
