PaulAllen
Yes, Thai Intl. If you tell them you are a Samui resident I think an HIV test is only 700...well worth it if in any doubt.

Rooo
This might sound harsh or controversial, but I don't understand the logic of some people, you pay for a lady for a night or several nights & then look for budget medical care. Sorry, but if I was ever in that position I would endeavour to get the best medical care ( as in tests ). Edited November 1, 2007 by Rooo
PaulAllen
A test is a test. The costs are just different at each hospital so why not go to the cheapest one? It's not like he's having a heart transplant in a back alley somewhere. Any of the 4 or 5 hospitals can do the test just fine but there are bid price differences. I know Bandon's is about 1500 while Thai Intl. is 700. Worth the 1/2 kilo trip to me. Even if using rain coat still good to get tested. Personally I like to give blood because you get a free test then plus you are helping someone out who needs blood.

goldfinger
i think, it needs a few weeks after the "date", to get a 100% result, you can be tested today, but to be sure once again after 3 month. Isn´t it?
sbk
Just as an FYI, not every poster is male and not every STD is AIDS. Chlamydia, genital warts, hepatitis, trichomoniasis and thrush are all STDs.
Samuian
Just as an FYI,Chlamydia, genital warts, hepatitis, trichomoniasis and thrush are all STDs. the bkk-usm hospital had or still has a "special" on HPV (human papiloma virus- genital warts) immunisation. HPV infection is a necessary factor in the development of nearly all cases of cervical cancer! Besides "raincoats" don't guarantee anything - they are known to fail under certain circumstances! has anybody seen in any of the kasikornthai bank branches any free giveaway condoms yet? was a big advertising campaign on tele..... what was that all about I wonder...? mssabai
Wow - the arrogance and stupidity of some of these posts (Roo, Lao Pao, SamuiJens, this MAY be directed at you) has absolutely astounded me. For those of you assuming I have had an accident with a bar girl, the clue MAY be in my username as to why that probably isn't the case. The fact that you all assume that you should only have an STD test when you have 'forgotten' to use a condom is more evidence of the current lack of knowledge about STDs, how they are transmitted, and exactly how dangerous they can be. Condoms are NOT 100% safe. Nothing is, therefore even if you are being as safe as you can at least a once yearly STD check is a neccessity. Go back to your porn mags boys and leave the adults to discuss their own sexual health health eh?

Girl X gave you a good reply after reading your latest post.Well if I assumed you were a male from your original post,it's because it wasn't very clear, I don't go reading into names being male or female. As I mentioned in my post it was harsh & controversial, because it was aimed at irresponsible males in particular. The way I read into it,is the way I answered.I still maintain that there is no such thing as budget STD test, unless you are being checked for one particular condition. Good luck to you with your tests.

mssabai
I understand that it may not have been clear, but I just don't feel my sex should have been brought into the equation at all. It was a very simple question that has now fortunately been answered very simply. I earn local wages and am therefore am just not able to afford the farang focused hospitals - as much as I would love to. Still I have braved the NHS for the last 10 odd years so I guess it can't get any worse than that eh? What I was really looking for is a private service aimed at Thais rather than farangs, but it looks like Thaksin ST is the best bet. Thanks everyone...ish.... sbk
I don't see the OP overreacting in any way. A simple question was answered with lectures and judgmental allegations regarding the OP's sexual behavior. Based on absolutely no information whatsoever, I might add. Indeed Thaksin is cheap and good, but go there for a std test sounds more expensive than just go to Samui inter or Thai inter. (you are talking about Thaksin hospital in Surathani right?) Anyway, good luck.
sbk
That was my thinking too, Mattias, unless Taksin has opened a branch in Samui? Seems the extra cost and hassle of the ferry would negate any savings. Why not try the main govt hospital outside Nathon? Most doctors in this country speak some English. mssabai
I've got friends who have done it at Thaksin and I know it is cheap and very fast but I only have saturday and sunday free and I know they fill up very fast at the weekends. Nathon was my first thought, but I just couldn't face the long drawn out thai/english explanation of what I needed to the reception staff (complete with mime and physical re-enactment I am sure!). I don't have any Thai friends on Samui who I could ask to go with me as they are all 'nice' thai girls who would never contemplate that sort of hospital visit! OK, well I just wanted to see if I was missing anywhere than the obvious places. Going to Surat this weekend so I'll visit Thaksin this weekend and fingers crossed get the full works done there. Oh joy. ps - HPV vaccine. Anyone had it? Is it expensive? Is it worthwhile?
sbk
There is a thread in the ladies forum about it mssabai--my recollection is that it is only worth it if you have not yet been infected with the HPV-- and many women already have. So, you'd have to have the test first before getting the vaccine, but my understanding is that in the US and the UK they are going to start including it in vaccines for young teenage girls --so yes, it definitely sounds like its been deemed worth it. ***edit*** but for the life of me I can't recall if it is yet available in Thailand, sorry
Samuian
The Bangkok-Samui Hospital has an Advert Sign just opposite the entrance of the "Laem Din Market - Talaad Dao Rd." I thought it was some 4+++ TB - but they are somewhat a 5 Star Hospital - so they are for sure not the most reasonable.
